new small mirror option

Q:
How about one of these????

Mike
A:
how about 2

Resisted Shinoo's mirror for a while because I didn't like the oval shape either. Finally gave it a shot and you don't really car anymore after you get used to it and it works just fine. Since installation is only 5 minutes and it's totally fuss free, I think it worked out.
A:
How about a small camera and LCD screen? I'm not sure where either would mount, but it would open up all of the windsheild visibility, and with a wide-angle camera it could eliminate all blind spots.
A:
I was thinking of getting an in-dash dvd player so I could play music off of DVDs, and possibly use the video in feature with a rear view camera and just twist my mirror to be perpendicular to me when I wasn't using it.
But I found a much cheaper solution. And I'd like to thank Sun Microsystems for making it all possible.
A:
That's awesome! I think Shinoo sells the same mirror for like $65. Patrick was trying to get me to pick one up...

A:
From your CF guy, I have some good? News. We have some CF mirrors coming. These photos are posted here to show you what they look like. They will have the right fittings on them when we get them.
He doesn't know it yet. But Shinoo will have them soon.
A:
Is it just me......or does the mirror look rectangular from the back, but oval from the front??
Duh......2 different mirrors.....never mind.
A:
I need an extra mirror to work on. Does anyone who has replaced the mirror want to sell??? give away????

Yes,this way you have some choices. And we have more.....F50 style in different colors. I like the first 2 mirrors that I posted earlier the best, but I will get one of these as well and see.
A:
Wes,
What's the purpose of the shape of the F50 mirrors?

Who's UNS???
A:
Hehe, that took me a minute to figure out.
I went driving today with my solution, and I must say, it is nice to be able to see when turning to the right. The mirror is really small, it shakes a lot, it is convex, and if I can get it to shake less, then I'll like it better than the stock mirror. It is convex so that I can still see everything behind me even though it's so tiny.
Hopefully, I can find a real mirror that is small enough to allow me to see, and large enough to see enough out my rear window. It really doesn't need to be much larger than the Sun Micromirror. If I don't find one soon, I might end up making my own. And, it won't look as good if I do it myself. I'm all about functionality. So, if it looks good, it'll most likely be by accident.

A:
How about a day/night mirror???
I'll second that one. There is a lot of glare from drivers behind you because the car is so low. I do not care if it has a lever to automatically move, just as long as it is made with the glass that allows a low glare position.
A:
Wes,

I don't know for sure. I will ask the company rep about it. My guess is to give you more rear center view?
A:

How lazy can you get. We don't have a day/night mirror. Sorry
A:
I don't see the day/night switchable mirror as lazy at all; to me, it's essential for safe night driving. I'd buy a smaller mirror but I won't buy a mirror that is not so equipped and I bet there are plenty of others who feel the same.
A:
I never use the day/night feature on any car. Could one apply a polarized laminate to the mirror to reduce glare (both day and night)? Does anyone make an auto-chromatic (sp?) mirror that we could run power to from the headlight leads?
A:
Count me in a different camp. I do not want the day/night feature if it will decrease the quality of the day mirror, which I believe they do. My solution is to put tint on the rear window. It worked well on my previous car. I have yet to do it on this one.
I used the night feature a few times at night, and it makes it impossible to see anything but lights. I like being able to see the road and cars behind me, which I could do with the rear window tinted on my previous car without hurting my eyes. Has anyone tinted their rear window? It might not be enough in this car, because we are lower, and headlights are brighter at that level.
Edit: hehe, or use a polarized laminate.
