I don't see the day/night switchable mirror as lazy at all; to me, it's essential for safe night driving. I'd buy a smaller mirror but I won't buy a mirror that is not so equipped and I bet there are plenty of others who feel the same.
I'm with you

How about a day/night mirror???
You don't need that feature with the Sector111 micro mirror.
The mirror is so small that if lights behind you are a problem all you need to do is move your head a bit and the lights will no longer be in your eyes

I've been driving without a rearview mirror for the past few weeks. I wouldn't recommend it, as you have a harder time monitoring the traffic just behind you, but it is possible. But it really opens up the windshield view.
I considered mounting my new mirror on the dash to retain this open view line, but the mirror turns out to be positioned too low to give an adequate view of the road behind you.
When my little saga finally is resolved, I will have an interesting story to tell.
I've done the same thing, I just adjusted the drivers side mirror in so I can see a little behind me... then when I am changing lanes to my left I just lean forward a little to get the whole view... works great... but I would like a skinny rectangular mirror....

That's exactly the mirror that I'm using - until I can get a proper one that I like.
It's a "monitor the kids in the back seat" mirror and is available in the baby department of many large department store chains.
The mirror is very small, and would be the perfect size, except that it is slightly convex. It doesn't block the view out the front of the windshield, but it still show way too much of the interior. Things out the rear window appear much smaller and/or farther away. That makes it hard to determine exactly what type of car that is behind you and closing. Do I need to slow down? Is that a light bar?

This one has a day /night switch and is only $15. I might check this one out.
Best regards,

I am with you too... While its possible to live without day night feature as I did on my Elan for many years, it makes no sense to have to move your head to avoid looking in the mirror if there is a way to reduce the glare from the cars behind you...
What's so hard about putting the day/night glass in these mirrors or at least offering it as an option for those that want it? You don't need the lever....

Here is a thought:
I wonder if you could buy a flat day/night sheet of mirror, get it custom cut to your new small mirror and then silicone glue it to on. This is similar in concept to what people have been doing with their Multivex aspheric mirrors.

I have a feeling that most of the people worried about being blinded at night have not tried the sector111 micromirror. It's just not a problem. I don't know why, perhaps it's because I'm moving my head inadvertently, but I was driving around plenty last night in the dark and didn't feel blinded by headlights in the micromirror at all. It didn't even occur to me. Has anyone who actually uses the micromirror found bright headlights to be a problem?

The weakness is that if you move your head to avoid being blinded, then you don't have visibility out the rear. That is not safe. The point of a dimming mirror is so that you can still see the traffic behind you without being blinded.

... I am sorry but IMO I would much rather put a mirror like this one in my $50,000 car. but to each it's own.

I just installed the "small" rear view mirror from Sector 111. Previously I had installed the Viewlux side mirrors.
The Sector 111 small center mirror works just fine. It is small, but when combined with the Viewlux mirrors the combination functions well.
I think that the small mirror will make seeing into a right hand turn on the track much improved.
Good Job Sector 111

Greetings,
Sorry about that, I don't know what I was thinking of at the time.
The mirrors are Multivex. There is a long thread on ET about them, I will try to copy the thread. See below

Yes,this way you have some choices. And we have more.....F50 style in different colors. I like the first 2 mirrors that I posted earlier the best, but I will get one of these as well and see.
I was wondering what happened to the rearview mirrors that were posted with pictures of on 6/19? (post #90) There were some CF and some paited f50 style but I haven't seen or heard anything more about them. Is Sector 111 going to carry these?
I would like some more info like size, price, mounting hardware etc.
If anyone has more information please let me know. I would like to replace the stock mirror but the micro-mirror is too small and I don't really like the oval shape.
Thanks,
Mike Land

I installed the sector111 mirror this weekend. Now I can see! Love the design.

I say take off the mirror, use a hand one to check when you want. You can keep it in your shirt pocket or make some sort of a fastener somewhere. If you are really tech use a mirror coated cell phone.
You can also use the mirror to flash people (visual version of the ). Last second ditch by throwing the mirror/cell at the aggressor.
Its amazing what humans can get accustomed to.
