Q:
It was de-badged, polished and installed. It is mounted with a Sector111 bracket which I also polished. It is a halon model I picked up at Ricambi America.

looks good. which model is that?
A:
I thought about getting that...looks great...
my only concerns - someone would either steal it, or vandalize my car with it...
A:
It's the chrome 1.25# halon extinguisher. They also have red for $25 less.

Halon doesn't leave a residue, does it?

NO it does not

Nope - it's a gas that absorbs oxygen. Halon's great advantage is that it doesn't harm anything it's sprayed on.
To use a Halon extinguisher, spray it close to the fire in as confined a space as you can. You can't use it standing back from the flames like a regular fire extinguisher. Since it's a gas, standing back and spraying the flames is about as effective as pointing it to the sky and spraying it. Halon really shines as an extinguisher in confined spaces - computer or equipment rooms, or the engine bay of a race car. For race car usage, it's usually mounted with hoses running to the engine compartment - pull the handle, and it sprays under the closed hood where the gas doesn't disperse very quickly.
Also, you don't want to breathe in the fumes - Halon by itself is harmless, but after being heated to high temperature (like by a fire), it can be a bit bad for you. Not a big deal, just take a deep breath (you probably would anyway), point is close to the fire and spray while moving closer.
Oh yea, breath a lot of Halon, and you will pass out - remember it absorbs oxygen. You won't die, but you may pass out - again, that's in confined spaces (like a computer room).

I guess I always think the worst...good to hear it leaves no residue.. I was also concerned that if the halon is extremely cold when it comes out, spraying it directly on the paint/body panels could somehow lead to cracking...
guess all I have to worry about then is it getting stolen

Is the Elise prone to catch fire or is this a requirement for the track?

No more than any other car and I do not know of any requirement on track. However, it's a good idea to have a fire bottle around.
A:
I think the one time you are able to save a car, makes carrying a bottle worth it. I imagine it would be a very helpless feeling to have a fire start in a car and have no way to combat it.
Mine is on the harness bar since that was space I did not care to lose-
A:
Randy,
How did you attach your extinguisher to the harness bar? custom mount?
A:
Nice install Nick. You might also try mounting the extinguisher the opposite direction and tucking the handle under the seat...cleans it up a bit. I used Shinoo's mount too...worked great.
