Interior Exterior
Q:
Has anyone bought any alcantara interior items? If so, what did you get from where and how much was it? I've seen pictures of alcantara center console, door panels and gauge cluster cover but not sure if it is all available for the US.
A:
you can get this all done from HRM. I believe they have the prices posted on their website.
A:
It's not officially available in the US, and even unofficially, I think you'd have a really hard time getting it.

Two weeks ago I went to an Italian Car show. One of the sponsors is a Lotus dealer, they brought this beautiful blue Elise with alcantara inserts.
They are here in Seattle, so unless it came like that from the factory, probably they did it. www.parkplaceltd.com

Wow, they have very nice broadband live webcams. Nice bunch of cars.
A:
Yes, but they are the only reason I descided not to buy the Elise for now. Thae have a reputation for complete lack of ethics. Needless to say I took my deposit back after two years on the waiting list.

Are you talking about that dealer in specific? Any stories?

A:
Yes, the dealer, and maybe Lotus USA should do a better job monitoring their dealer network, after all they are Lotus' face to the public.
Here is the story:
I got on their waiting list at the end of 2003. I put down $2,500 for the spot on the waiting list. I was given #89 and delivery date April-may 2005.
As time went by, the delivery date started so move; first it was summer, the September, then October. I stated to get tired of this, especially if some people were getting their car after only 6 months on the list; may be not at Park Place, but somewhere in the country. I sucked up the price increase and the poor allocation of cars.
A couple of months ago I called to verify the delivery date and they told me "End of 2006" if you can believe that!!!!! But they were good to point out that I can have a car right now for $3,000 over MSRP. When I told them that there were dealers selling the car at MRSP they say that there are NO cars available anywhere in the country. Since I been in this forum for long time I knew it was BS.
The scary part is that these guys were also going to service my car, as the only authorized dealer in town.
I asked for my deposit back and they played the "your check is in the mail" game, until I went there and I demanded my check. The accountant had to drive back to the dealership to write the check.
I am sure some people have good experiences with them. I just happened to have a bad one. I know many people with similar stories.
But yes, they have a car with alcantara inserts. It looks great.
BTW.
They have a car in their lot with the exact options I ordered. (Arctic silver, Touring, Red interior, Hard Top, and star shield)

Sorry but that first one in their inventory (the Blue one with the suade dash) IS HIDEOUS looking.. IMO

That is absurd, especially since they offered you one for an additional cost over MSRP and they have one with the options you ordered. I don't know how they can defend that set of circumstances. I hope you contacted Lotus to make them aware of the situation.

I'm colorblind, so it can be purple as far as i can tell. I think the went a little too far. Can't tell if the colors coordinate or not.
I hope you contacted Lotus to make them aware of the situation.
Mmm....didn't think about that one. I'll follow through on thet one.

I'm sure some upholstery shops can do this - I've seen a few Ferraris have it done - One guy was in Singapore (testarossa) and another was in Miami (512M).
The 512M is pretty flashy (Although a definite improvement over the Ostrich skin it had in before!! It's an Ex Mike Tyson car).
The TR in Singapore turned out great - The whole interior used to be black leather.

This is at Park Place too. Not bad.

The blue one from Park Place is truly hideous! All that car needs to complete the effect is some fuzzy dice dangling from the rear view mirror.
A:
that blue one is horrible! at least if the tan was gone it would make some sort of sense.
A:
The blue one would have been cool if the dash was black & the air cond. surround was painted blue. All the blue on the dash is just to PIMP for me.
A:
That 512M is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. It is called the "slutmovile" by its owner.
The red alcantara is a huge improvement over the ostrich skin. How can someone do this to a car. Any car.

Alcantara is very nice. However, that blue and tan is very wrong.
