Steering Wheel Cleaner?

Interior Exterior

Q:
Dear All:
Since acquiring my Elise, I've picked up most products recommended by DP, and have had good fortune in maintaining and detailing my car. My question remains : Is there a preferred product to be used on the steering wheel? During this past Autocross, I incidentally smudged my steering wheel with some sunscreen. I recall reading somewhere that one should refrain from using cleaning agents ordinarily used for interior leather for fear of it becoming slippery, etc. I've not found anything on this board through a quick search. Any suggestions? Vantage?

It's okay if you got sunscreen on your steering wheel. They are just worried about someone inadvertantly making the steering wheel slippery and then crashing their car.
The most common thing I do for the interior leather is wipe it down with a damp cloth, as keeping it clean is the best thing for it. It's like giving your skin a sponge bath. Once in a while, I spray some Leatherique on it, and wipe it down.
So I'd just wipe it down with a damp cloth. It's okay to use regular leather products on it too, but very few conditioners don't make the leather more slippery.

- dechien I've been using Wilson's Leather Lotion ocasionally on all the leather
areas, including the steering wheel. Haven't experienced any slippery-
ness.

I used the Lexol gycerian based PH balanced leather cleaner in the orange bottle when my wheel started to show a bit of gunkyness. It worked great without being slippery.
