Color Matched Gauge Cluster-This has to become a Real Product-Brainstorm

Interior Exterior

Q:
The only person to do this and post about it is tbsmith, but I dont even know if he still has his car.
Anyway, this is what I was thinking:
What if someone designed somthing similar to what tbsmith made, except using something that emits a white light. Since it will use a real white light(unlike the current orangey glow the car has stock), it can be used with an overlay that Sticker city sells, and actualy be any color you want. Whoever buys it can get a gauge overlay of thier color-choice from sticker city, and have a color matched gauge cluster.
With this plan, it should be relatively low cost and allow somebody(Are you listening, Sector111? New product right here) to actualy produce, and make a profit on this unique product.
Ideas, anyone?
This is the final outcome of tbsmiths cluster.
And his write up

Doesn't reduce weight, doesn't make it faster, what's the point?
A:
Doesn't increase weight. Looks better. Extra Flare for the interior, and makes it personalized.
Besides...Carpet Buttons...

Oh thats sweet

I still want to find a plug in replacement for the LCD display - one that has different backlighting: blue, white or even a fluorescent discharge one. It looks like a 13x2 display - but there is no such beast. It's probably a 16x2 with the extra characters masked off.
I still want the EL solution... just plain white please.

Mine came color matched from factory, I gots a CO

I think red would look good

Like a few others have mentioned I don't care for the color of the gauge cluster when it's illuminated. I also don't like the whole EL panel lit up. I much prefer what's often called "Reverse-Glow" ... I think it's easier on my eyes for night driving.
Here's a picture of one such panel:
I don't care for the washed out blue version. But you could envision this for the Elise, since our panel is already white-ish during the day. Maybe have two color schemes a red only one and maybe this darker blue/red combo:
(sorry that pic is so small I can't find a good one of that cluster)
I'd imagine it would just be a matter of calling up the company that makes the bling bling clusters for Honda's and Acura's and ordering some for the Elise in a large enough quantity to make it worth their time.
The LED light thing is impressive and lots of work (which I'm sure I'd mess up) but I'd rather have a replacement solution like the images above.
That fuel readout has to be able to be changed somehow too. I don't have the electrical expertise to pull anything like that off though. I eagerly await a Sector111 option

hrmm, the needles aren't really glued in.. mine fell out when I removed and dissected my gauge cluster..
