New super micro (and cheap) rearview mirror

Interior Exterior

Q:
I apoligize if my brother offened anyone. I DO appreciate the feedback from ET members. I have removed his posts and changed my password.
A:
I can afford a micro mirror, but I can't justify the price... and that is what has been keeping me from buying it.
A:
Put the crack pipe down.

Proof that drugs can render positive results.
I have to admit that there's a (very) fine line between ingenuity and dumb simplicity and this idea seems to straddle that line. I like the idea of flipping up the mirror when you have some big-ars SUV blasting you with light. It's probably almost big enough since my smaller mirror (Purchased on ET and stocked by AutoZone) still looks right at 25% of each seatback. The real problem with your idea is that the mirror is a crappy object that obviously doesn't befit the quality of the car. I would treat this as a step in the right direction, but not the end product. Hey - you might even have a marketable product. search "mirror" on ET and you'll see.
A:
have i totally lost track of time.. it must be april 1.....

FYI, tesprit is making mirror adapters: http://209.59.172.12/forums/showthread.php?t=28086

I was reading your responses and just thought I'd add my two cents, even though I drive a Honda Civic ! If my brother hadn't said that
he found the mirror at walmart, and only paid $2 for it
Well that explains a lot. How are your aerodynamic sideview mirror mods coming along?

A:

He asked for opinions. In my opinion, any mod that requires electrical tape that does not deal with wiring is not a good idea. Had he done this with a proper mount, there would be less poking fun. Many here have modified there rearview mirrors with much less expensive options.

I admit I have a major problem with young kids who drive tarted up Civics with thumping sound systems and ghetto exhausts. They are attention whores.... poseurs. It wouldn't be so bad if they just kept on motoring. But every one I encounter on the interstate has to loiter beside me ... like they are seeking some sort of inspired acknowledgement/validation on my part that a modded car with a supercharger and NOS is faster than a non-modded car. Duh-huh. And they act like I have never seen a riced out civic before... as if hot rodding an inexpensive ride is original or something.
And yes, I will admit to getting older. But their music... really does suck. All glitter. No substance.
I apologize for lumping you in with that crowd.
Cheers,
A:
for " retracting your critisism " and not " lumping me in with that crowd " as you put it. I do honestly appreciate the fact that you read and tried to understand my point and I read and understood your point about the younger crowd and their childish ways, but hey, they are kids after all ! Might beg to differ slightly about the music they listen to though, as personally, I enjoy a lot of "their" style of music, ( I'm a big fan of electronic music as that's what I'm into producing right now, though I also
compose and produce some classical, whatever trips my trigger, as long
as I can create or recreate the sound using the equipment I have,
I enjoy dabbling in it !) I'm "older" too, (comparatively I guess, I'm 44),
but to me, tastes in music are exactly the same as tastes in cars or
clothes or members of the opposite, (or same), sex, or food or whatever.
Everyone has different tastes that suit them and might change over
time, and there are no absolute right or wrong or good or bad tastes,
since it's all individual preference anyway. I may not like someone else's
tastes, say in music, but that doesn't mean they have bad taste in music,
or that what they listen to takes no skill to produce, or is, as I think
you put it, "all glitter, no substance". (boy, I do like to debate, don't I ?,
forgive me, as it is a habit I'm trying to break albeit, obviously, not very
successfully !) Anyway, my point is though I may not enjoy whatever
type of music, (classical, rap, deathmetal, etc...), I can appreciate
the skill it takes to play and produce it and the time and effort the
individual(s) took to reach that level of competency in THEIR choice.
Anyway, I figure you sort of get my drift by now, I hope so anyway, as I'm
getting tired and hungry and want to stop now. I definitely enjoy
communicating back and forth with you all and though I drive a Honda
Civic for practical reasons, don't get me wrong, I think that the
Lotus Elise is an awesome car, especially for the price, but sadly,
I can't afford one at the moment, ( if a sweet car was what I truly wanted,
which in all honesty, if I had the money and decided I wanted a car
to impress myself that I've always kinda lusted after, I'd try to get
me like a 1986 Porsche 911 (or 930 (?) or whatever it is, the one
with the whale - tail spoiler, probably a hard top, in Guards Red
with the black trim and the Black wheels with the polished edges.
I mean, if it performs good, ok, but I just like the way they look
and after all "chicks dig 'em" !) If I want performance, I just jump
on the cycle and say "see ya" !
Anyway, Thanks for reading this far and like I said, am enjoying
this discussion and look forward to more of your comments,
time now to indulge my individual tastes in cars, clothes, music, and food !!!
PEACE !!!

Buddah, stick with this site longer and you'll learn that almost everyone here likes the elise/exige for it's character and performance. People that buy one for status and attention don't keep it long - the sacrifices are too great for them.
Having original ideas is fantastic. Opening yourself to outside opinion is smart. You may not like or abide by what you get in response, but chances are that feedback will represent what a lot of others in the real world think but will not say.
A:
Fungezap, I couldn't agree with you more about what you said about
having original ideas and opening yourself to outside opinions, and
the wisdom to be gained from doing such.
All I'm trying to really say is that after you gather and analyze
outside opinion about whatever, that you then still have to just
decide for yourself how you may want to do things, even if it's
against the advice and opinion of everyone else because ultimately
only you can decide what's going to satisfy you and make you happy
because you have your own completely unique and individual requirements,
abilities, preferences, etc...
So anyway, thanks for the discussion, I agree 1000 % about the sacrifices
made to drive an Elise (no experience with an Exige), I'm still trying
to figure out a way to get in and out of the thing !!!
Have a great day !

I originally got on this site to defend someone and it seems that I've probably
upset them by sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong, in their opinion.
To that member, I apologize and will bow out now gracefully. This person
DOES truly value others' feedback and I don't want to tarnish his standing
on this site just because I couldn't resist the urge to debate. To this member, PLEASE FORGIVE ME !!! I'll stick to my own stuff from now on.
Lesson learned. Sorry. Hope you can forgive me. Seriously. Will try
calling you soon.
Never again

You two are taking this much too seriously. I thought the mod was original too. R'elise Me was spot on. Stick around. Be prepared for the peanut gallery... that's life around here... but by all means give it another shot if it works for you. That's what mods are all about.
