So that head unit DOES fit in the car? It looks as though it's sitting out a bit futher than usual. Did you have any issues mounting it? Got any side-view pics?

the head unit is a 4 position motorized adjustable thingie
as the headunit sits it faces down slightly....so position 2 lifts the bottom of the faceplate, thats why it appears to stick out a bit. overall a very clean install.

It does indeed look very nice. Is there any easy way to wire that head unit so the screen will work without the parking break detection? Is that documented anywhere?
Out of curiosity what does the screen do when you’re just playing a CD? Can you switch off the screen easily enough? How much MP3 information is displayed about the track you’re playing.
I was considering that JVC unit or another one just because of the ability to burn a DVD with MP3s on it. But I can’t find a place to look at one before I buy.

obsidian...if my parking brake was on, im sure randy chase would have pointed that out... depends on how u hook it up. if u ground it to the parking brake like they want you to, it wont work without the brake on. when the dvd isnt on, it has background screens...like for sirius it shows the station/song/channel in text in a selectable color scheme...kinda. mine is green! this unit wont "burn" dvds, but will play them. for all the electronic gadgetry i own, i dont have an mp3 player but im almost sure it will play them.

Yeah that came out wrong. I didn't mean the head unit itself could burn DVDs, but that I could burn a DVD on my PC with around 1000 MP3s on it and this player would play it just fine ... for hours ... and hours ... and hours

i remember on my alpine to disable the parking brake lock you find the wire that goes to the parking brake wire, pull it off and t-tap it to the ground wire. the unit will think the parking brake is engaged. though its not very safe to have the unit play as u drive as it could divert your attention.

I like the look of the painted center console. I've seen painted consoles to match the body color but not a painted black console for a yellow car. I also have SY and was debating on having my center console painted to match. I think I like the look of the black instead. Is this standard on the sport package? Or did you have this done?

For a minute I thought that I had found a set of keys I could mix mine up with, but I have a blue glow-ring on my Elise keys (Magnetic Blue Elise). I have green on my Miata/everything else ring, and Red on my Jetta keys. I only have the three, so the Audi has to do without. I love those things though.
