Sill protectors

Interior Exterior

Q:
Couldn't you just install the protectors more forward?
A:
Randy, I'm with these other guys. My scratches are right new the top, and moving the protector forward leaves it not quite wide enough to cover the sill side to side. The market (or part of it) has spoken-make it a bit longer or wider and I'm in. I might get it anyway; beat what I have today (scuff marks on the sill).
A:
How much is a new sill?
A:
I'd like one, but ditto the earlier comments. Larger... further forward.
A:
What are you guys wearing, high heels? Must be tough to heel/toe...
I'm sure that a super-size version can be produced. Could you post a picture of your scuff-zone?
Its where the sill meets the panel switch, like others have said I have long legs also
A:
ok, I went and had a look at my sill and then looked at the pic again. Could you another pic that is not so close in. I think I may be losing the proportion. I think it might be ok in size after all. I have to admit, I'll probably order them any way.

From that pic, it starts to curve up within an inch forward. I doubt you would go more than 1.5" forward. That means the same width sill, at that angle, if moved forward 1.5", would have an extra side gap of...um... nothing. Well, okay something, but so small it is silly.
A:
I do not have the scuffing problem myself but have been looking for something like this for a while now.
I have noticed that others, especially at the dealership, seems to leave nasty marks on my sills.
So, something to protect the sills would be great.
Will be heading to HK and Japan next week and was planning to look for some neat stuff for the elise if i can find time. Door sill protector was one of the stuff on the list. And if i dont find any good protectors, i will defintely get it from Blackwatch.

Do you have a part# for the Lotus covers?
A:
Count me in the long leg category. Make that the old, long leg category. I normally grab my left knee to prevent my heel from scuffing the sill. It must look to observers like I've got a wooden leg I'm hauling into the car after me!

Euww, no!
Santorium is half of an old nickname from Latin class "santorium tiro", which is the nearest translation that my old classmate could achieve to "Space Cadet".

How much is a new sill?
I purchased new sills from Northport in Atlanta (678-281-0230). They cost $104.83 each, so $209.66 for the set, plus shipping was $11.45. Part numbers are:
A121U0120F - LOWER SILL RH
A121U0119F - LOWER SILL LH
I also purchased the badge set that includes the front plate badge, and sill badges. I'm not sure if the sill badges are supposed to go on the lower painted flat area, or on the black sills. If put on the lower painted area, they are visible from outside the car when the doors are shut, which can't be right, unless they're really made for UK cars. If put on the black area, they would protect the sill quite a bit, but somehow they just don't look right up there. Anyway, the description of the badge set is just "SILL" and the set is $117.62. The part number is LOTAC05336.
Oh, and the guy at Northport that I spoke to was also trying to sell me a driving light kit, so they must have an abundance of those in stock. I don't know the price.

Everyone,
I will re-look at the forward edge of this in the next few days. Currently, the piece installs within about 1.5 inches of the curve. If you hitting the curve.......I am afraid you are in trouble. Anything stuck to the curve will pop off in time.
Currently, the part is 15 inches long and covers the 97% of the step in / step out area. If Stan will let me shoe up his car some more than I can enlarge them BEFORE I make my first shipment to BlackWatch.
You tall guys want more coverage up front....You will have it...
I also have a cover for the passenger foot rest. Its very nice. Pictures to come in a day or so....

I went out and measured my scuff marks from the curve and they were about 1.5 inches from the curve, so for me the current protector is very close to covering it. Another 1/2 inch would do it for sure. My $.02.

Lets try this again....hopefully it worked....
Pat
I have adjusted the size of the sill protectors to cover the inside edge right up to the lower edge of the curve in the sill. All of the first run will be manufactured like this.
For those that asked how easy the sills remove. We pulled the test pieces from Stans car yesterday. The sills did not require any cleaning. In fact, we just place the protector back in place and stuck it back down.
Place your orders with Blackwatch we should begin shipping after next Friday.
Thanks
PatS
PS More products to come.....
