My interior light doesn't turn on, and it's messing with the alarm - any tips?

Interior Exterior

Q:
Hi All,
Last week after arming the alarm the high-pitched drone began after a few seconds. I checked everything out and as I moved the interior light to the up position and then back down it came on and I realized that it wasn't on when it was in the down position originally, even though the door was open. I just opened it up (to install my new microMIRROR ), but when I try to arm the alarm I keep getting the drone. I checked, and now I can't get my interior light to come on at all in any position no matter how I move it around.
I'm not sure if the light being disconnected would do anything to the alarm, but that's what would appear to be the issue with the light not coming on. I've run a search, but has anyone else encountered this problem? Before I start tearing things apart, does anyone know how the light switch is connected, and the best way to get to it?
Thanks in advance,
--Josh

You probably already tried this, but the normal position is down and the light should come on when you open the door.
The high pitch could be because some sensor is not closed. Mine did it for a while after programming the alarm, and it was due to the trunk not being closed.
Other things could be the access panels in the front.
Or like you said, maybe the light disconnected and it's causing the problem.

when i first got my car i had a problem one evening with that drone starting after setting the alarm. after rereading the manual i figured out that i had the switch in the wrong position and it had been that way since new. why the drone did not kick in until that evening i do not know, but in order to set the alarm the light switch has to be rotated to the "down" position. not sure that addresses your problem though
guess he said it first

I am told that the door alarm sensors work through the light switch. If the bulb is burned out or the switch is not in the correct position or the switch or any wire is broken the circuit will be open and the sensor will think that the door is open. I don't know if a blown light fuse will do the same thing but you should check it out.

This is true. My car was delivered on Saturday with the light switch in the OFF position. Everytime I tried to arm the alarm from the outside I would get the drone. I moved the light switch to the "normal" position (light on when the door is open) and the drone went away.
I didn't notice this problem until I tried to lock and alarm from the remote fob. Prior to this, I had always locked the car using the door lock toggle on the center console prior to exiting the car, and then alarming the thing after getting out. I never had the drone problem doing it in this sequence, even with the light switch in the off position. Maybe I never fully alarmed the car doing it this way though...

Same thing happened to me yesterday. A co-worker, whose office overlooks where I normally park my car and who is use to my alarm going off when it rains, came to my office and said "Your alarm keeps going off and doesn't seem to be stopping." I excused myself from the person I was meeting with and ran downstairs to the car. Pressing the key fob did not cancel the alarm, but unlocking the car did. As I was in a hurry, I just left the car unlocked. After my meeting, I figured that I must have blocked the motion sensor with a towel I'd tossed behind the passenger seat when I got to work. When I went down to check again, I noticed that the interior light was on. Apparently, I had knocked it with my elbow so that it was in the middle position. Putting it down cured the alarm problem.
My co-workers thought that was a pretty cool way to let one know that the light was left on!

It's definitely in the down position, and the light doesn't come on in any of them. I'm going to try the bulb and fuse and see how they look. I really think that is the switch or a wire somewhere as it went out intermittently.
A:
Have you started the car, shut it off, and tried again? Something similar happened to me once and that fixed it.
A:
Ok: solved. The bulb was simply burned out. Oddly, starting the car and shutting it down did allow me to arm the alarm without the warning tone. This alarm sure is quirky. If I were Jeremy Clarkson I'd have to demand a refund about now .
