I use the KMArt window cup holder, except I had to twist tie the front edges together because under 'spirited' driving the fast food cups would fly out.
Exigemotorwerks-tread carefully on your planned placement. I had my XM radio bracket mounted there, dead center, and since I now I drive and race with my seat more forward, I found my shin constantly ramming the thing. I had to drill another hole and mount the bracket two inches toward the passenger side. And now that invades the passenger space a bit, but, well, ahhh, screw the passenger. Perhaps your design is thinner. My XM bracket is 4+ inches across.
On the beanbag sill deal, forget it. NOTHING will stay on the sill in my car. A beanbag will not help.

Not while I'm drinking a biggie-Coke from CrackRonalds(tm) anyway.
LOL. CrackRonalds. I usually take the time to get out of my car and eat. Sometimes it's nice to have a cup of coffee while driving, though; thus my cheapie cupholder.
A:
I don't eat in the Lotus. But on longer highway drives I like to have something to drink. Without a cupholder I usually set my drink on the sill. No disasters yet...

Those rest stop personal pan pizzas go well on the dash. If it slides away, just make a quick right to left lane change and slide that baby back.

I think you have had enough ideas on where to put it, but as far as size, maybe a large hole for big cups, and a plastic insert for coke cans (or smaller cups) will make it more universal. I like the billet aluminum look (like it came from the factory) and I would probably pay between $50 to $95 ($95 if it was really trick!) Is that possible?
A:
this is going to be a 3" cup holder, it's going to look somewhat stock.
It will be thick and sturdy.
Im hoping to keep the cost around $85-90.

Here's another cup holder option for the serious drinkers out there.

Not sure if this would work on the floor of the Elise given the raised aluminum adjacent to the floor mats.... Have only seen the picture not the product - anyone who has a Mini had occasion to use one?
