Mr. T's advice Cures 'Brown speck' Starshield Problem!

Interior Exterior

Q:
After trying a slew of attempted remedies, including
Meguiars Bug and Tar Remover, WD-40, Plexus,
Mothers Back-To-Black, and straight alcohol, nothing
worked in cleaning those spots. Then I noted an older
thread (suggestion) from Mr. T. who said that
Turtle Wax Bug And Tar Remover would 'definately'
cure the problem. HE WAS RIGHT ON! P.S. - After
cleaning and toroughly wiping the area, make sure
to put a coating of wax on the area, buff it out, and
you're good to go.

Sorry - I must have missed the previous thread...
That's what I've been using to remove track rash, and you're right - works like a charm.
A:
Thanks Ridge!
I noticed after some bugs have been on for awhile, a black/brown speck would remain. I tried stuff like 3M adhesive/bug/tar remover and it did not work. That stuff usually always works. I will get the Turtle Wax stuff and try it. Thanks again.

When you say "track rash", do you mean cone marks? Anyone know if this stuff will remove autox cone marks?
A:
I heard rubbing compound works.
cough never had cone marks cough . . . .

So far, NOTHING works well on removing cone marks for me, from the Starshield. I have tried the Bug and Tar remover. The only solution was a cutting compound and a Portercable....or lots of elbow grease.
Some of the more superficial marks would come off with solvents, but not all of it.

Well, we all know yours has been a special case. Afterall, "cone marks are a sign of proper use of practice events" (or something like that) has been the sort of muttering we've heard when somewhere near your influence.
On top of that (no pun intended ) your car has cone marks on top of cone marks on top of cone marks.
It would be surprising anything short of a dentist's jackhammer could get those repeatedly impressed marks off your cars.
All joking aside Randy. Try some of that bug remover over a section of marked starshield with a small bit of paper towel repeatedly soaked. It shouldn't harm the shield or its adhesion if the section is away from any edge of the shield. I think the repeated application will eventually soak into the porous shield, dissolve the tar, and leach it out.
A:
Hehe. I had been in two autocross events and not hit a single cone (but my times were terrible also). Last weekend I attended the level 1 and level 2 SCCA schools and I must've hit 40 cones in practice, pushing the car to the limits. Now my once beautiful Liz is full of battle scars.

Bug and Tar brands together. MeGuiars did nothing on my brown specks
but the Turtle Wax did work.

No, sorry - I'm not an autox'er... more of a road racer myself...
The track rash I was talking about were the black marks/streaks that you pick up on track from marbles of rubber getting kicked up onto the doors, in front/behind the wheels, onto the hood, etc. Typically a pain in the butt to remove - but come off really easily with the Turtle Wax stuff.

Which one did you have the good results with - the liquid in the pour can, the aerosol, or the fancy plastic spritz bottle? Or are they all the same with fancier packaging?
