Exige Seat Dimensions

Interior Exterior

Q:
Hi All,
Does anyone have (or can anyone measure) the width of the exige seats at the shoulder (the widest part). I am trying to see which aftermarket seat is narrow enough to fit.
Actually, the original S1 exige motorsport seat was by corbeau, but no one is saying which model corbeau it was...

Correct, but you could only fit the driver's seat on a fixed frame.
You could not fit 2 of the Corbeau seats in the car. The passenger seat would remain the original seat that was re-trimmed in the same fabric.
Bye, Arno.
A:
arno, they dont really need to fit side to side do they?, as they are offset (most of the time) with the passenger seat fully rearwards, and the drivers seat usally a little forward of that (well I am 183.cm/6') and I am not fully rearwards in the drivers seat.. I always wondered about this...
A:
Reeves the Corbeau seats to the S1 are called by Lotus and Corbeau as
Competition Driver's Seat part number A111V6034S and Competition Style Passenger Seat part number A111V6035S. We have a set in our Sport 190.
I am in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney if that is any help to you if you would like to see them for your self?. R.D can supply them if you wish and
are prepared for the import cost from the UK.
A:
hi Geo54 (you're in the eastern suburbs? I'm in Paddington.. are you on aussieelises.com?)
Thanks for that- I know that the dealer/lotus charge something obscene like close to AUD3K for a seat that really, as a corbeau would sell for USD300. So there is NO WAY i want the lotus part.
Actually I notice in japan they manage to fit 2x recaro SPG seats to their elises..

True, but even then you can't fit 2 of the corbeau driver's seats in the car at the same time. They are simply too wide and curve too far forward at the shoulder level and interfere with eachother.
Some of the most narrow generic SPARCO seats can be fitted in the car, but only if the driver's seat is mounted as far forward as possible and the passenger seat then fits partly behind it.
Otherwise the only real options are seats that are specifically designed for the Elise like the Exige/340R seats, Reverie, MOG, Elisparts, etc.
Although it seems some Japanese seats can also fit (Bride do a narrow and low version)
Bye, Arno.
A:
thanks arno- have been considering the MOG now that they do a wide (couldnt fit my hips in the regular!)

We met at Sandown raceway a while ago on a O'Neill day (red Elise s1).
I've done extensive research in this area as I'm also after a race seat.
BTW - I inquired at Zagame here in Melbourne re the Exige Sport Seat and they quoted me A$4,712 for one seat!!
Your options are as follows:
1. Corbeau Motorpsort as above - I understand that Lotus no longer sell these and have moved to Recaro (see below). Lotus MS told me that they had lost their FIA approval. However, you can still buy these. I believe that Plans Motorpsort in the UK sell them as well as a more expensive carbon version.
2. Recaro - add 400 pounds shipping to the below (makes it expensive in Oz).
See email below from Lotus MS. I abandoned this option as I can get the same Recaro seat (non-branded) in Melbourne for the price of shipping alone. The only catch - Lotus MS won't sell the Lotus fitting kit by itself!
I can send you the fitting pdf if you'd like.
Hi Paul
Thanks for your enquiry,i can offer you a Race seat (competition only) We have just made available a new Recaro Apex with seat runner kit, although we have not tried this seat in an S1 Elise we have in other versions of Elise and they fit fine and the chassis points are all the same,
The seat is fully FIA approved and we now offer this as Corbeau lost their FIA approval on the type Lotus used
The retail price for kit is £519.73 gbp but does not include any taxes or shipping,i expect the shipping to be about the same as the seat price ! approx £350 gbp to airfreight
The seat is a Recaro Apex but is Lotus Motorsport branded with our logo on the head rest
As for locating harnesses this is subject to any regulations you have to abide to,we usually drill into the chassis to locate the eye bolts etc and lap strap,it's difficult to avoid but i can help as i have a PDF with instructions and pictures of how we do this
I have seats in stock but i'm afraid no pictures yet but you can view the seat on Recaro's website
If you are interested let me know or if you have any further questions
Best Regards
3. Locally made Velo - see anor email below:
Gday Paul,

Our Standard size GP90 fits in the Elise, however the wings require shortening this seat retails for $740.00 inc GST. Our web site features this seat and I could send further images if required.

The billet alloy mounts for this application are $148.00 inc GST.

The seat is available in our standard range of colours or we do offer a custom service at a premium.

Please don't hesitate to get back to me or call our factory on 08 8369 0055.

Thanks for considering an Australian made product from an Australian owned and operated company.

4. 340R/Exige Style Budget Seat

I'm considering getting one of these and retrimming in leather here in Aust. I need to find out if they can be made with a slot for crutch straps. Won't hold you as well as full on race seats but can fit 2 and can more esaily bretain inertia reels.
5. Mogs - don't fit me well, but I haven't tried their fat bastard versions. I understand that these are on your list.
6. Reverie - silly money. MOGs seems cheaper here in Oz.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Korgi

Hi Korgi, yep remember meeting you. Amazingly I was quoted $6,500 for both seats (corbeau) 2) 18 months ago by RD's... but lotus Australia has NO idea about pricing/mark-up given international trade & freight these days..
The Recaro Apex doesnt seem that narrow that two would fit- but oddly the japanese are fitting 2x recaro SPG seats!
I'm probably leaning on the velo- VERY light (5kg/11lb)- and they can modify the wings- would be able to fit 2 inside the liz.. and they are used by the V8 touring cars... Actually, if you're interested in getting 2 of these from velo, and I was going to get 2, they may do a decent price on elise modified/friednly wings..
I saw the ones on hangar111 to- but 900 for a nothing special seat, which neads further trimming- i def think the velo is a better option.
MOGS- u actually sat in one??? god, i couldnt even slip my hips into Dave Mackies... I'm interested in trying the fat bastard version when Geoff N gets his in.. but then again, they are not that much lighter once trimmed to match the velo...
Reverie.... their prices for seats (and anything) for that matter... are unbelievable....
A:
I believe they are announcing a seat solution (i.e. non Reverie) at the end of the month. There was something mentioned in one of thier last newsletters.

you have a PM.

Out of interest, see the lotus motorsport seat (recaro Apex) is the same dimensionally as the Recaro SPG (as used by KMS/Kawahara) in Japan:
http://www.safedrives.com/prodimages...cingShells.pdf
for those that are interested, Velo is www.velo.com.au these seats are 1.5kg/3.3lb lighter than the recaro (for the velo gp-90 seat which fits the elise, with modified wings)
