Installed drain for rear hatch / trunk

Interior Exterior

Q:
I park on an incline at work. Sudden South Florida showers kept filling my trunk with water. I installed a little drain today. I connected the hose to the existing drain hole in the trunk. The water runs out by the license plate area.
A:
Brilliant!
Have you had a chance to test it yet?
A:
I flooded the channel with water from a sqeeze bottle. Water ended up on my shoes. Good flow volume.
I had water in my trunck again today (before install) and that was with the car cover on. I guess that channel fills up and overflows.
True test will be tomorrow, or this weekend with the hurricane coming.
A:
Can I stay in stock class with this installed?

A:
Awesome! I park on an incline too, and would like to wash the car without turning it around to avoid flooding.
Very clean.
A:
Just drove 90 minutes in heavy heavy rain. Pulled in the garage and checked the trunk interior. Bone Dry. The drain is working good.
A:
What tools were required? Are those standard fittings available at home depot? Same with the hose?
I wouldn't mind being assured of no more chances of getting water in the trunk.
Nice job!

No special tools. I used a muti-step/ unibit to drill the hole for bulkhead fitting. Unfortumatly the bulkhead fitting was machined special. The rest the the items I got from Mcmaster.com
A:
Is the bulkhead fitting stainless or aluminum? I am sure that plastic would work as well. What are the dimensions? It looks like a countersunk flat head machine screw with a hole drilled through and through and then countersunk but the head may have been machined as well.
