Micro Mirror install

Interior Exterior

Q:
I installed the Sector 111 micro mirror today.
Installation was very easy. I was concerned, because I had already cracked my windshield installing a Ragnorak V1-display mirror. Because of the set-screw design however, no force is required to install it. Very slick.
I've heard many people say it doesn't affect rear visibility. This is not at all true. You see much less in this than the factory mirror. It will take getting used to, and I'll need to use my side mirrors more.
It's still worthwhile, though. The penalty in forward visibility of the factory mirror is not a good trade-off, IMHO. Plus, this little mirror looks great. It's a very well made piece that suits the car well.
Oh, I also needed to install a V1 remote display, since I was relying on the one built into my Ragnorak mirror.

I have used the MicroMirror for 6 months or so and find it a much better solution than the stock. But it is true that there is a bit less rear view with it over stock. Side mirrors work great once you learn where everything is on your car. BTW: when I had it installed, the shop broke my windshield (which they replaced N/C), so beware! Not all of the mirror shoes are that easy to slide in and out of.

I disagree. My micro mirror lets me see all there is to see. If I tilt my head to the left or the right, all I see are headrests. There's simply not much else to see back there. This makes you more focused. What you see in the micro mirror is everything there is to see. If you want to see anything else, use the side view mirrors.

Just installed my new Micro Mirror or my Exige yesterday.
Got a little spooked by the "recruit a friend to help" sentence in the instructions. Moral support? Shoulder to cry on when the windshield cracks? In the end I went solo but applied maximum patience. After a few tries the old mirror slid off with minimal drama.
Rear vision with the new mirror is just as horrible as before but the improvement in the view out the front is incredible.

I agree with your disagreement
These were my results as well, the Micro Mirror shows you all there is to see excluding the headrests........but provides a little more visibility in front.

I think some of this perception difference may be due to driver height and seat position. Those sitting closer further from the mirror may have a larger field of view.

I would agree with that, I am about 6' and sit one click forward from the rearmost position.
A:
While the micro mirror lets you see everything between the headrests, you can't see in stereo vision in that whole field of view. That means you only get depth perception of that portion of the image that seems like it is in the center portion of the mirror (depending on which eye is dominant). Try keeping your head still and look with just one eye at a time. I have one, and I experimented, and am shorter than most so sit closer, which would increase my field of view relative to you taller folks. Even with that, I still like it, although I would have preferred it to be 1 inch wider.

I bought one too but, I like seeing EVERYTHING so mine is still in the box!

Yeah micro mirror might be a plus but i cant see already anything out of my rearview mirror. So instaling a micro mirror would be a downfall for me because of my massive roll cage and seats
