SSR/Lotus wheel Center Cap

Interior Exterior

Q:
I picked up a few lotus center caps from Newport European and put them on my SSR aluminum center caps. It looks much better
A:
Nicely done
A:
It's difficult to see in your picture, but do these caps sit against the face of the wheel with something behind to secure them or are they mounted from the inside like the OEM caps?
A:
The SSR caps pop into the wheel similar to the lotus OEM caps/wheels. Actually quite hard to remove. The roundel was secured onto the face of the SSR caps with Silicone sealant.
A:
Good job! Thanks for the reply.

Edit: Nice photos Eylise.

Had anyone else done this mod? I just bought Lotus center wheel caps that someone else posted on another thread (can't find it now?) and he had it FLUSH! When I popped the rear SSR cap out, I realize that you can't have it flush?

Get the Esprit Center Caps and it should fit flush without any issues.

The factory ones aren't quite secured enough. I lost one at the track last weekend.

I had SSR on my miata and the wheels would heat up enough at the track that the caps would pratically fall right out even though they required a ruber mallet to snap in when cool. I suggest taking them out at the track so they don't get lost and become a hazzard. I've had a number of run groups that required them to be removed.

Nice - SSR comps right in anthracite right? Same wheels I have on my alltrac. Gotta love the weight

Oh!! Is that what causes them to fall out? As I mentioned above, I lost one at the track last week, and I was wondering how it happened. Ya learn something every day!
Taking them out for the track sounds like a good idea. I got my replacement cap today- $28! SpeedVentures recommends removing them, and now I see why. A couple more of those and I could meet my deductible and make a claim.
