My elise went through someone's lawn

Interior Exterior

Q:
I was out for a drive last night with someone else and on the way back I let them drive my car. Long story short they inadvertantly drove through someone's lawn and at the end of the lawn ran over some large landscaping rocks. Good news is no one got hurt (except the person driving emotionally is a little distraught they damaged my new car).
Damage is on the passenger side rear fender flare. Not as bad as I was expecting after looking at more closely in the light. Alignment seems good, although when moving really slow there is some cyclic brake squeeking now almost like something is bent. What concerns me is the body damage that was done. Fortunately the fiberglass appears to still in tact but the paint on that fender flare is ripped off to about the size of an apple with some scratches.
I'll get some pics up sometime this weekend so I can get your input on how easily it can be repaired and what you think it will cost.
G'night all!

Were they drunk? On drugs?
Glad nobody got hurt.

More to the point...were YOU on drugs? What were you thinking!
A:
Ouch... I'd politely demand that someone to spring the cash for some attention from the best body shop you can find. Trust me, he'll feel better emotionally after he pays for what he's done...
A:
Inadvertantly?
I haven't inadvertantly driven through anyone's lawn since this time I inscribed the words CSUN on UCLA's lawn.

I get a feel that the passenger driving may be a she. Either way how close/comfortable with this driver are you? You are looking at about 1000ish repair bill for paint and blend. Unless the rear clam starshield is damaged which will add another grand or so. Glad you're both ok.
A:
here is a pic of the body damage. The star shield is definitely damaged, but the overall damage definitely could have been worse considering the size of the landscape rocks we hit while driving through their lawn. I haven't looked underneath the car yet but like I said the alignment seems straight.

You are right, its my girlfriend. I am comfortable with them driving but being in someone else's car for the first time while driving at night isn't always a good combo. No alcohol nor drugs. Just a refreshing fall night drive.
Anyone have a better estimate of the cost after looking at the image?
A:
Sorry to hear but glad it's not too bad at all. If it's not cracked it should just need a sand, 'fill and paint/blending. Since it's not a metallic paint it shouldn't be difficult/expensive to blend.

Well, for a damage MUCH smaller than yours I got a quote of $1,187!!!
I never fixed it of course...
Hopefully yours is cheaper...

robert at blackwatch racing sells a black piece of material that covers that area ;similiar to what the old porsche turbos had. they are about $50. if you put in on strategically i think it might cover the damage up.
just an idea....................
check out his website

My brother has a red F355 that somebody had attacked a bit too firmly with a buffer. There were a couple of places, right on a body crease, were the paint was worn through. He used, as a temporary solution, a red Sharpie permanent marker. It was so close, and so undetectable unless you really knew exactly where to look, that he never undertook a real repair. Couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Nothing to loose anyway.

The big price is going to be the starshield. Andrikos' number looks reasonable for this. I had a cracked front clam that was repaired for 1500 + starshield.

I'd guess $1500-2000.00 for the body damage alone (for a good quality job).
Check the suspension VERY carefully... it is really fragile on these cars. Even towing it onto a flatbed truck incorrectly can bend the suspension so hitting a rock probably isn't good for it.

Damn. Hopefully it is much less, or else it will get covered up with magic marker and electrical tape.
Does anyone know where I can score an ardent red side skirt and is it possible to replace the side skirt?

AHHH another damaged Elise thread....once again, as posted on the last wrecked Elise thread...I'd be crying for 3 years! This is yet another example of why no one, except myself, drives my car....NO ONE. I'm getting worried about where I'm going to take it for new tires/alignment/etc when the time comes. Just curious....but when she realized she had possibly F'ed up your car...what did she say???

She said she will never drive my car again

Was she blaming the car?
Probably not. My brother damaged a car of mine 12 years ago and still won't drive any other of my cars, though I always offer.

That is sad - my wife is still nervous in the Elise but gaining confidence.
Much as it is a bummer your car was damaged (and I don't want mine damaged!) it would be good if she could still enjoy it rather than be terrified of it.

They are bonded to the chassis and you have to destroy them to get them off...
