Lambo doors-New post

Interior Exterior

Q:
The door hinges on the Elise are pure car porn.

Absolutely a work of art!
A:
Very rice and cheesy.
Actully sounds pretty good!
Edit: wow I'm ashamed. That's a bad one.
A:
Look, I agree with all of you guys saying don't mess with the current beautiful hinge, but really, she didn't ask to hear all that crap. STFU.
A:
Has anyone suggested the Gull-wing top, sort of same look, already engineered, still can get out in case of roll over (not sure if the Lambo story posted earlier in this thread is true, but this is the actual reason Mercedes stopped production of the 300SL), and accepted by Elise owners. Check HRMs site for some details (yes there are other sites).
Those who bitch about resale, it is a car, don't worry if she does Lambo door mod it will make her car more valuable to someone who wants that look and your car more valuable to those who don't.
Andrea do what you wish I am not making your payment and I assume no one else is.
A:
if they aren't oem lambo doors are rice..

A:
Do look into the hinges more carefully though. I have yet to see a single aftermarket Lambo-style hinge that's really solid. They all tend to be jiggly and wobbly, and they start to sag and need constant readjusting. The one on my coworker's Supra is absolute trash. You have to be very gentle with them or else it does not close.
A:
Not 90 degrees, thats not gangsta.
A:
wow i could never get out of that one!!!.....lol.
i agree andrea.....its your car you should do what ever you like....if i find anything out about making them work i'll let you know......just dont let anyone hack up your car with some universal hinges.....
A:
+1 ... lambo doors look cool... but i'd say keep 'em on the lambos.... can't even begin to imagine what that might do to your resale value of your car... thats just what i was thinking, except i was going to put "can't even begin to imagine what that might do to your resale value of your car... " IN LARGE CAPS. I hope this is being gentle, but dont do it, ...........please

...If someone volunteered their car to decah or another latch maker, that might help...
I wonder who should do that...
A:
what's up with the MR. T roof intake? should have made it shorter in height and wider.
A:
I wouldn't recommend installing "Lamborghini-style" scissor doors. There is a thread on Lambo Power about a guy and his passenger who got trapped when their Murcielago flipper and they burned to death.
I was just forwarded pictures of that crash yesterday (including the half burnt bodies), wasn't pretty at all.
I have seen a kit for Elise and Opel Speedster in a lambo-door catalog though. Let me look it up.
An aftermarket kit is actually safer than the real lambo door on a lambo, since it actually swings out first (like a regular door) before it swings up.
A:
I you just remove the windshield then you don't need to worry about gull-wing doors in a rollover.
