Q:
I am arranging to test drive an Elise. The sales guy only has units with leather seats. The leather seats in my G3 RX7 were terrible. I would slide all over going through a corner. At that point I decided never again to have leather seats.
From what I have read here leather seats seem to be popular. Are the Elise leather seats good at holding you in place or should I wait until cloth a cloth seated Elise becomes available and compare?
A:
Leather seats in the Elise are really nice...hold great! And the '05 seats have lumbar support...
A:
Click the seat forward a couple of notches.
Then use a combination of knees against the sides, butt against the seat, and hands on the wheel.
A:
Very grippy-great side and upper back support support when cornering. When you click the belt, pull up on the shoulder strap across your chest and cinch it a bit tight. You will stay in place very nicely. Make sure the salesman does the same Hope you love the ride!

No real problem driving but I've been sloshed around passengering at the track. This past weekend, I had a passenger split time between my car with harnesses and another without - word is the harnesses were better for passengering.
A:
I find the leather ProBax seats in my 06 Elise great. You might want to think about getting a proper racing harness if you want extra support/restraint maybe together with Exige seats.
A:
Meh... I think the cloth seats actually hold you a little better.
I slide around a bit on my leather but it's nothing major. I'm only 150 lbs as well. I would only change the seats if someone gave me a set of Exige (or Sport Elise) seats for free.

I'm half-way through my harness install. Driver's seat complete and reinstalled. Passenger seat still out. Test runs show a fair improvement in hip-holding with the harness. I've got a skinny butt; a slightly wider ass probably wouldn't have the slippage problems in the first place.
An alternative, hip-holding wise, is...

...to keep the standard lap belt tight by preventing belt slip through the sliding buckle.

PS - Also complete as of yesterday: speaker replacement. If anybody wants to know how to replace the rear speakers, complete with slightly modified grills to allow installation without removing either the harness bar or the canted plastic speaker surrounds that are unique to the factory harness bar installation, just ask. Passenger seat reinstallation, including sector111's fire extinguisher and bracket, is on hold pending Stan's Shifter Mod.

The '06 leather ProBax seats are great.
I have a 4 point harness for track, but use CG lock every day.
A:
My leather seats suck. I keep sliding down and then start slouching. No support laterally because I am too narrow to use the side supports. The seat belts dont stay cinched like they do on some other cars. If I was taller, wider, and had harnesses, I am sure it would be different story. I am currently trying to find someone to swap me cloth seats for my leathers.
That said, go drive the cars and see how you fit. If you slide around, just find a car with cloth.
A:
I feel like the seat were made just for me! No sliding at all. If I were a bit wider, it might be uncomfortable. don't have to worry about too skin ny.

The '06 seats are excellent for me.
I use a CG-lock on the track. Makes a world of difference in high-g turns or slalom. I see no need for the street.
