Q:
I looked for threads on this, and I'll bet they exist but I didn't find them.
Is this the same company that supplies the dealer optioned Star Shield for our cars?
http://www.starshieldarmor.com/home/home.php
If that isn't them, who should I contact to get the problems addressed?
(Bubbled, and crooked application.)
Thanks very much.
A:
If you purchased the Starshield as an option it will be branded with Lotus logos and is covered under your warranty. Contact your dealer.
Cheers,
Kiyoshi

And, in addition to that, you should have received a Starshield warranty card with the car.
A:
I know I'm lazy, but can anyone tell me how long the starshield warranty is?
A:
Be sure that you really, really, really want it "fixed." I had mine replaced out of necessity, and it's not as nicely done. The first application had a stretch mark. The current one has some grit and even a hair.
Given the hassle, risk and reward calculations, I'll just wait until it really needs to be replaced, and then I'll find a different installer, with a cleaner garage.

Five years IIRC.

That's not true. Not everyone got a warranty card. I never got one. They didn't really have a system down in the beginning so it depends on when your car was brought into port.
A:
Well, my dealer is 500 miles away, and when I was at NE, they told me to contact Starshield directly. I'm just trying to find out who exactly to contact. I have all the card doc's, Starshield is listed on the doc's, but no warranty card.

I was talking to a guy from Lotus HQ at a UK dealer on Monday and he says that Lotus are now in the process of placing a stone chip protection on the Elise range and Exige range as an optional extra. He didn't know how much this would be! But said it’s been tested on a few cars at Lotus HQ and it’s a big improvement in what is currently available (i.e. starshield in the States) and the guys at Lotus are very impressed!! As this new protection does not yellow and doesn’t give the car the orange peal appearance. He says it’s difficult to see if the protection has been fitted at all. The front of the car is covered, up to the top of the lights and the bottom front area is also covered around the air intakes. Apparently the complete sills are also covered!!! And another is placed to the rear clam just behind the wheels. He says they are now in the process of setting this up with a guy called Paul Millen who will be responsible for every car which comes of the production line that requires this protection worldwide. Let’s just hope it’s as good as he says as my Elise is in major need of some kind of protection. This is only 18 months old and the front of my car looks as though its has an illness!! But now hearing this news I think I will wait and see if this happens and book the Elise in for a respray and pray this stone protection can be fitted at the dealer!
