Lotus seat retrofit???

Interior Exterior

Q:
Hi guys.
Ive been searching around for some new light seats for my lexus Is300.
I like the lotus seats and they are very lightweight. I was wondering if you guys thought i would be able to retrofit them into the IS300.
Of course custom seat rails and all that would be needed.
I was also looking into those Reverie cf racing seats made for the elise. The model i like would be the Musllane or sumthing or other. LoL. Does anybody have any feedback on those. Mainly how big of an ass they will fit?I wear a 38in. waist.
thanks for any help

I think the Elise seats will look too small on your Lexus. But if you really like them then you might want to consider Exige seats instead because they are designed to accept a five point hardness.
A:
yeah if i got the elise seats it would probably be the ones from Eliseparts.com. Those look to be nice, light, and reasonably priced.
i actually dont think the elise seat is much smaller than any other normal sport seat. Just an illusion because its in such a area. i could be wrong though.

why bother? I used to have an 03 IS300 with sparco seats.. get those, for the price of 2 exigeseats you could buy 4 sparco seats.. not to mention, it would look REALLY funny..
A:
i bother because im having trouble finding a seat i fit in.
Like i said above i wear a 38in. waist. And im a stocky guy.
Alll the fixed back seats that i find i worry are too small.
So i changed course and started looking for a factory sport seat. Like the elise. or the vipers or something.
A:
RichS, thank you for the correction.
Willy, BTW that is a very nice car. Looks like you and I both decided that a Toyota inline 6 should always come with a turbo...
Below is my 85 Supra with a 6MGE engine (JDM) and the turbo bits from a 92 7MGTE.
A:
dayum megatron going on MK on my ass. Thats a nice looking supra you have there. Inline 6+ boosted=fun.
My most recent kill was a porsche GT3. On the highway of course.
But i need some seats to hold my butt in place while running Timeattacks.
Plus losing the oversized 45lb stock cant hurt.
thank you for the props btw.

38" waist and stocky may be a problem with the stock elise seat. I found it was uncomfortable on my 36 inch waist, which caused me to go on the elise diet , lose 35 lbs and 4 waist sizes. Fits nicely now.

For comparison, the seats in my Subie STI are rebranded recaros, and I swim in them now.

If I were you, I'd go after the recaro pole position seat. A person over at pelicanparts.com sold a set recently with brackets for $1200 for the pair in leather.
A:
ive actually sat in a elise before and felt very comfortable to me. Nice and snug. Im stocky not fat
thanks for the suggestion though. I will check that out

You might also want to try out a Sparco Evo2 seat. The Evo2 is a bit wider than most competition seats and fit larger drivers better than many other designs.
Kirkey Racing also make some very nice competition seats.
I am 6'1" and 210 lbs - not as large as you, but the Evo 2 fits very comfortably for me and several other larger friends.

you've got to be kidding... most aftermarket seats are wider with more aggressive bolsters.. I've never had a problem with any seats until the elise.. In that case, it's a snug fit.. go to a local sparco dealer, try them out..
A:
ummm U must be kidding.
almost all the seats ive found at MAX are 16in. wide at the hip area.
yes their are some seats like the sparco EVO 3 that are like 17-18in wide there but they dont make them in a cf shell. and they are like 1k shipped anyhow.
If you know of where all these WIDER aftermarket seats are please point me in the right direction.
A:
fixed or recline? I was referring to recline seats..
look at corbeau, they have a seat for 44inch waists.. and most of them go to 38inch..
http://www.corbeau.com/products/forza2/forza2.shtml
and all of sparco's street line should fit you.. maybe not speed.

A:
yes i know the reclinables are wider. But it hink a lot fo those "look" cheap
