Sorry, I dont know the correct name for it but has anyone painted their hard tops black along with the body piece behind it that sits on top the rear glass? just curious, looking to buy a hard top and debating keeping it the body color or painting it along with the other body pieve gloss black

That piece is the bow cover assembly, it is two pieces bonded together. I have been thinking of BRP for the top and the bow cover for mine. You might photo shop your and see what you think. Mine is just stuck in my head. My elise S1 was titanium with a ruby red hardtop and I loved the contrast. I think a black bow cover and hard top would look cool on a car of color.
(Uh guys, is that politically correct?) My buddy Ben (African American is laughing at me)
Back on topic, I think it would look cool. You know I even like the Ferrari look ing headlights that are color coded, another reason I love my black elise.

I've never seen an Elise modified like that, but if you're curious how it'd look, look around for some pictures of the early S2 Elises. On those cars, the soft tops covered the areas you'd describe so you get the same basic look:

This is known as the long tail softtop, great reference. A great look, but the short top has been in production since 2003 in the UK, and not for FED car too, and seams more useable but I prefer the long tail. The benefit of the short tail is you can remove the top on a nice day while sitting in a long line of stopped traffic because there is a six car pile one mile ahead of you.
Back to pont the long tail pics are good to see what a two tone might look if you do not see things like that in your head.

It was covered in vinyl because the owner had a soft top and no hardtop so he wanted it to match the soft top appearance. Here is the car, but without the soft top installed.

Vynal still does not work for me. If you had to do something, cover it in the same cloth materiel from a really nice match. I think that would give it more the finished look.
However I do like the colour contrast with the yellow, and I can imagine the top present.
