Driver seat have a little play?

Interior Exterior

Q:
Anyone else experience this? Seems to have a little play back and forth. I can hear it when I rock back and forth in the seat.
A:
NOT !
If I were you I'd try to tighten it up myself and if you can't do it, have it tightened at your next service interval, if not sooner. Shouldn't be IMO.
A:
Mine does it too, just a little. Examined the mechanism when the seat was out. Didn't see a fix. Remember reading that someone had a significant problem and had the track replaced under warranty.
A:
That's funny, I just noticed that on mine as well today. Probably from when I got hit 2 days ago.
A:
Well actually...
I stopped by the dealer today and grabbed a bunch of seats. They all had some small amount of play like mine. Its play that exists in the rails for the seat. It drives me a little nuts, so I may try to figure a way to stop it.
A:
Had mone tightened by the dealer about 15,000 miles ago and I think it might need doing again...
A:
Not sure what there is to tighten. I took it out. The slop seems to come from where the 2 rails slide together.
A:
I just put in an aftermarket seat, and now I need a cheater bar to move the rail to alignment so I can get the 4th seat bolt in... never rattles anymore! It still slides, just not real easily...
That's one of the many rattles that the car used to have that it doesn't anymore...
A:
Mine had a little play on it too. But it is now fixed. The problem was with the sliding mechanism. I removed the seats and found a penny and quarter jammed into the rail. The play was gone after removing the coins. I now tell people to remove all change from their pockets before letting them drive my car.
A:
After looking at the rails, I think I know of a way to fix the play. You could drill and tap a hole in the rails. Run a bolt then with enough pressure on the rails to eliminate the slop.
A:
Which bolts need to be tightened? My seat rattles like crazy...
A:
pressed button twice

IMO plopping into the seat can also contribute (first timers sitting behind the wheel we all did it)along with moderate speed traversing bumpty bumps chatter loosens bolts and maybe shake the digestive track back into health.
I had change dropped in my car it was driving me nuts, I was mostly pissed because I thought it was a dime or penny not even worth hunting. I spotted it and it was a $2 coin my tolerance for change dropping from my friends pocket just increased.
I am currently training little critters to retrieve loose objects from unreachable spots. I have cold blooded as well are warm blooded little helpers eager for new homes.
I also have an advanced package that include both cold/warm critters. Benefits that compliment each other via team work. It is critical that you note if you do not feed them well instead of team work the natural rivals might eat each other.
Usually this can end with a mess you would not want to live with and will need my top selling item: flesh eating slug/leach spliced to perfection. Warning Handel with care and responsibly.
A:
double you tee eff???????
Smells so good is that you?
A:
HA HA! Fixed!
I took the seats out. The bottom of the rails already have a bunch of spare holes. I took one on each side and made them a little bit bigger so I could tap them for a 8 x 1.25mm bolt. Got a couple bolts, cut them to proper length, and ran em up in the rails. No more squeeky clunky seat. Only draw back to this, it becomes hard/impossible to adjust the seat position without loosening those bolts.
I asked my dealer's tech today, he said he a long list of people that had this issue. He put in a service advisory to Lotus, but of course, no idea if there will ever be an official fix.

A reliable source has indicated that the fix is in. It will be introduced on the US version of the Exige S.
A:
My passenger seat was going up and down a bit recently but that's because I took it out and didn't tighten it up correctly. No real point saying that really, sorry.
A:
Wow, feeling of the car is much improved. The drive in this morning was a lot better. Eliminating that play has made the car feel more "crisp"
Highly recommend this to anyone that has slop in their seat. You'll thank me later.
A:
Interesting, mine doesn't do this (yet), maybe 'cause I have the seat pushed all the way back? I'll have to ask my wife if she notices (she sits further up than I do). She loves the car so much she has come to tolerate all of its little eccentricities!

Any more word on this? Perhaps a service bulletin?
