Interior Exterior
Q:
I know we've been through this before, but what car wax do you prefer on the Elise/Exige, and what do you use for best shine on the star shield if anything?
Thanks!
A:
I have thus far used Klasse All-in-One followed by Klasse Sealant Glaze. The All-in-One has proven effective in removing tire marks from the star shield. It is supposed to be sufficiently mild as to not cause scratches or clouding.
A:
Zaino for most but I like NXT. We just did ours with Poor Boys to give it a try. After using it I think I still like the NXT better.
A:
It appears that Klasse is gentle enough for StarShield. Someone else posted a graph or link rating Klasse on the very gentle edge of the spectrum.
In contrast, thou shalt not clay bar the starshield.
Detailer's Paradise is a sponsor of Elisetalk.

We're a Zaino family.

I've used One Grand Blitz wax and wash&wax for 7 years on two 3M coated ("starshield") cars without issues. I like the One Grand stuff cause it goes on and off easily by hand and I can get a year out of 1 application.
Carcareonline carries it.

I've used all of the hot waxes over the years and my current favorite is NXT. It has a great shine, lasts forever, and goes on and off with ease. It's also readiliy available and cheap. It looks great on my Ardent Red.
While I'm at it - be sure to check out the new Meguires quick interior detailer. It's great. Cleans all of the interior surfaces in the Elise and makes them look new, not greasy.

I decided to go to Griots Garage... So now I have a lot of the stuff... but I don't like cleaning cars much I have used their best in show wax but the product thats really great and goes on quick is Speed Shine... I use that more than the wax... Check out their site:

Random thought re wax longeviety... I prefer to use a wax as well as a wash containing wax, both from the same manufacturer. The rationale is the products complement each other. I've used some car wash products that would quickly diminish the wax on the car. Stick to the same manufacturer or at least the same ingredients (ie carnuba) for both products.

Klasse claims you can use the All-in-One as a car wash. A cap or two in a bucket of water. No suds, but cleans well. I've done this once or twice.
However, I prefer to squirt some in the wash bucket with a real soap. Suds make me feel better. The Klasse really reduces the suds. It also really helps take bugs off the front of the car.
Recently, I was worried about the All-in-One removing the Sealant Glaze, so I stopped doing that. Maybe I'll go back...
Using a wet (water, or acrylic spray) microfiber pad, I apply the Klasse product to the paint. I then let it dry, up to 24 hours for the Sealant Glaze. Then buff with clean microfiber towel. You can add multiple coats of Glaze. I only do this if I'm not driving it over the weekend.
It comes off best if you buff it either really soon after applying it, or after it has dried a bit. The best effect is after washing it the next time, but that's because I invariably miss a spot when buffing. Of course, since I'm compulsive, I'll often add a coat of SG after washing, thereby ensuring there's always a spot I've missed.
The AiO is rated for 3 months or so. The SG for 12 months. YMMV.
Proper Auto Care claims that adding a wax over the Klasse AiO provides a really good effect.

I've had good luck and pricing with this company. However, I remind the audience that Detailer's Paradise is a sponsor, and I had great customer service with them.

Yes you can. Keep in mind that SG can be a bit of a challenge to remove. AIO is much easier to work with and provides good protection. Durability isn't on par with SG, but I would rather do AIO twice than SG once. If you decide to go the SG route there are some tricks to removing it.
Honestly on SY, I wouldn't use the SG. It is too reflective and you will loose some of the unique color characteristics of SY.
FlyLo-thank you for posting the sponsor reminders.
A:
What is SY?
Thay would be the color of your car! Saffron Yellow=SY

What is SY?
*edit* Ack! beat by Ralbertina! (look at the timestamp)
I've been using Wolfgang Sealant and have had good luck with Zaino also. I like the synthetics due to the ease of application and removal (I'm lazy).

SG is much easier to remove after it has thoroughly dried. AiO can be removed shortly after application, and then followed with SG if desired.
I might recommend starting with just AiO and seeing how you like it. Add some to your wash bucket. Then polish your car with it. Maybe do two coats.
A:
I'm not saying "no" I just like certain things. Someone else may love the look on SY. I'm no expert in what looks best, I just like what I like. Like FlyLo suggested, you might start with AIO. I don't even let it dry before I remove it.

...
I agree. I use Klasse AIO followed by SG twice a year, with Carnuba applied every month or two to really make it look better (Carnuba is very easy to buff off as long as you don't let it dry). The SG is so hard to get off, that it actually caused me a shoulder injury (tendon impingement) because I rubbed so hard for so long. I even followed the directions for the SG and only applied a very very thin coat. I would probably stop using it if it wasn't for the fact that I bought a big bottle and I just can't bring myself to waste it. I just had to change my rubbing technique for it.
A:
NXT for me. Used it three times on the Elise, love it.

Since this an opinion thread...then the ABSOLUTELY ONLY WAY TO GO IS .......ReJex...puts everything else to shame...period. How is that for an opinion?

Boooo!
I actually use different things on my cars. Different requirements. I say use what you like!

I've been a big fan of Griot's Best of Show wax for my darker-colored vehicles, but I'd always found it to be a pain to remove, and I'd been on a quest to find something better... I found Menzerna's line of products and have been very happy, for use on both my dark colored (I have two black cars and a dark grey truck) and a light colored (silver and CO) vehicles. The finish of the FMJ (full molecular jacket) is less silvery than Zaino and the FMJ is wipe-on, wipe-off and incredibly slick (makes removal of bugs very easy). I put it on the entire car (including the areas covered with clear mask) and it made the clear mask even less visible. I didn't need to use anything other than the FMJ since the car was stored inside prior to delivery (thanks HRM! ), but the other Menzerna products in their Car Care Kit are effective for vehicles with more wear/contaminants.
I order from Proper Auto Care, and more information can be found on the products at http://www.properautocare.com/mepaca.html
