Q:
Tim, How do you apply rejex? Is it a liquid or paste? Thinking about doing it to the wheels, I've heard varying reports that it helps with brake dust and that it doesn't figure I'd try it.
Do any chain stores carry it or strictly mail order?
Chris
A:
I use Griots Garage carnuba paste wax on the Star Shield and the Show Wax, liquid and the paint, Speed shine on tochups, I use their car wash and I have not tride the new spray-on wax but will.
A:
Okay, I applied Rejex to the wheels and it doesn't works. Excellent for the paint though.
A:
Ok, the Rejex is great for this car in the areas where dirt piles up. It goes on just like any liquid wax product. Lower rear of the car, in front of the rear fender, along the lower sides of the car (mostly Starshield if you have it) and on the lower front. That's where I wipe my car down every night and get the gook off.
Over that area where the Rejex is applied, I use a spray bottle filled with that magical expensive product...water. It takes everything off quickly and simply.
I don't want to let that gook stick on the car more than is ever necessary.
The Lotus race car drivers like using Rejex for the same reasons in the same spots.
The rest of the car -- I put Klasse All-In-One down, followed by Maquires NXT. Nice shine....
If you put waxes over the Rejex it removes it.....
For wheels a gentle product to clean them like Sonus, followed by the Michelin Brake dust preventative that I bought on-line. I use foam paint brushes to get in the tight parts on the wheels. The Michelin works really really well...I would not use Rejex on the wheels or windows.
I clean the wheels and the car completely once a week, usually Friday evenings or Saturday mornings in the cool shade.

every one seems to like "FMJ" and Zaino but you are not tilling us where to find and what it is. FMJ us to stand for full metal jackit or it's a CD player too.
A:
I get my FMJ (Full Molecular Jacket), a Menzerna product from www.properautocare.com because they're local, have good service, and support the car club I'm involved with.
I haven't tried rubbing a CD player on my car lately. Let me know how that work out for ya.
A:
Properautocare has been able to license the Menzerna name for a number of products and expand the line. Menzerna Germany is only responsible for the polishes AFAIK.
FMJ's biggest flaw is its limited durability compared to Zaino, but it is one of the easiest products to apply and remove. In addition to Properautocare.com, I like sportscarcare.com, as they only charge exact shipping and do not base it off of your total cart price.
It's next biggest flaw is price, as it performs fairly close to Platinum UPP, which is half the price in the 16 oz. size. Detailer's Paradise has UPP.
There are way too many products out there! I use three different ones in rotation right now (including FMJ and Zaino).
A:
^ indeed way too much products.. if you could only see my shelves..
i personally have organized certain "waxes/sealants" that work best on certain colours.
A:
Tumbler,
Does your ZFX ever dry up and turn to gel? This is the 3rd vial of mine that has done so. Zaino lasts long enough to where I hardly use ZFX, and when I finally reach for it, I can't use it because the shelf life is poor. Perhaps this is less a problem for you because of your business.
I would stop using Zaino if Jeffs Werkstatt was giving me similar durability. Less fuss to use (other than wiping it off sometimes). The car I use Zaino on is hardly detailed...

A:
Justin - in all my years of detailing I've never had zfx dry up on me. It could be too high heat as you're in CA. My concern is extreme COLD :-) I've only had z2 pro go bad on me on account of that. I've been using z2 pro for many months without ZFX and get about 3 months durability. With it i get about 5 to 6mths. Ive used werkstatt and don't like as its "murder" to remove. One has to really concentrate when applying both prime and acryllic jet as if any spot goes on too thick, its a lot of elbow grease to remove. Sticks like glue (similar to the old klasse sg). If any product does not allow an "ease of removal" I toss it. I'm picking up the Prima in the upcoming weeks and we'll see how that goes.
A:
Apparently it can be easy to apply/remove Acrylic Jett by hand, but it takes a special touch which I never had the patience to find. I do the spray application, wipe on, wipe off. This may compromise durability, but at least it is easy. As for Prime, usually I work it in until nearly gone. But as you say, don't let it dry too thick in any area.
I am also waiting for Prima's sealant, plus the Amigo polymer glaze.
A:
Zaino is replacing my vial free of charge. Good service.

i have used klasse AIO and SG for a few years now (previously on my porsche) and i have had great results. a had a lot of people commenting on how great the condition of my paint. I think that there is some confusion on this board regarding the purpose of wax (maybe i'm the one confused).
i'm reading a lot of people saying that this wax created a deeper shine than that one or whatever. correct me if i'm wrong but isnt the shine and luster related to cleaning the car??? ie using glaze, klasse AIO, or a clay bar. and wax or klasse SG is the protectant or sealant for the paint?? as previously noted, AIO works great, if you take your fingernail and rub it on the paint, you will notice that it is slightly rough, even after a wax. when you use the clay bar or AIO, the paint becomes unbelievably smooth. klasse SG is great at protecting the car but is a PITA to get off and i think it is actually recommended to use an orbital polisher.
never used zaino but it seems as though 70-80% of zaino users really like it but the other 20-30% really don't like it. maybe i'll try some rejex or nxt
A:
Prep is very important, but the final look is very-much influenced by your wax. Certain waxes add depth, some add reflectivity or shine and others may appear wet.
A:
Glad to hear rejex is ok, I have used it on my old 911 and subie and I love how well it works. I was afraid of some type of discoloration or bad effect with the starshield.
The bad part of the rejex is that you need to "strip" any wax off the car first, using dish detergent. Then you polish it up, and let it cure overnight in the garage. I did my 911 every 6 months and it worked fine, I also could do the water cleanup.

I've been using Eagle One Nano-Wax. It doesn't last long (says the autopia forums), but it's almost no work at all. I keep some in the trunk, with a cloth in a ziplock bag. With the spray version you just wipe it on and you're done; no waiting, no buffing, doesn't turn white, etc. So maybe it only holds up a week or two, but you can do the entire car in 5 minutes wherever you happen to have it parked.
The biggest problem is simply that the spray bottle is kind of big for keeping in the trunk. I found a pump version yesterday which has a smaller bottle, but I haven't tried it yet. The pump version does have an extra "wait for it to haze" step, so I'm not sure how different it's going to be to work with.
A:
As I said, I keep a small spray bottle of water and a microtowel in a baggie in the trunk. Cleans dirt off quickly and easily.
I wax it at home in the shade on a weekend.
Have fun!

Result: the two-step application is in comparison a lot more trouble. If you're going to use nanowax, the spray liquid is much easier and much faster to put on.

I love the product "Rejex" This is a product for airplanes and is sold by RV shops. It is fabulous for creating a totally slick waxed surface that even tape will not hold to. You can do a google search to find it. For those doing track days this stuff is so good, you can simply wash and rinse all that rubber debris off the surface of the car. It lasts about 3 months.
