I cannot find this on the web, but the lubricant was made by The Hillman Group, Inc.
"Protects against rust, freezing, wear. Use on metal, wood, plastic, rubber, leather"
Good luck!!!!!!!
Hmmm. I just thought of a possible real use for Motorsilk!

Have you heard the windshield wiper lately?
Turn it on - you won't hear the roof...

This COMPLETELY ELIMINATED the squeeks in my hard top - - better than when the car was new: I mean no squeeks at all. None!
(1) I spent less than $2.00 for some Powdered Graphite Lubricant at the local hardware store. (go to the key section)
(2) I took off the hard top and placed it upside down on a blanket.
(3) I "puffed" some of the lubricant on the front and back portions of the hardtop on the inside.
(4) I stuck the top back on, bolting in both front and then both rear in that order.
Did I mention how well this works??

Baby powder will do the same!

Nick Adams also suggests not to over tighten the fasteners.
Many people, in the hopes of keeping things from moving against each other in the top, tighten the screws overly tight. Apparently this makes the problem worse.
My approach has been to carefully look at the attachment points and put a very light coating of white grease (lithium) on the parts that touch. I put such a light coat on that you can not get much back when you wipe with a cloth. I use a Q-Tip to apply it in the deep parts of the channel.
No creaks,
Michael

There's a factory fix for this.
The hardtop on our orange car doesnt have plastic sleeves. The hardtop on the yellow car ( new hardtop) has them. I believe it's an update...it all depends on who you talk to as to if they've "heard of it" or not.
A:
The absolutely foolproof way to fix the hardtop squeak is to simply remove the hardtop. Works every time.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyone have this problem on an Exige? My hardtop "creaks" and I don't like it.
A:
I might try the above fix's as well later. I've just been using the soft top lately as it does'nt squeak.

Both Ford and GM sell a silicone spray that works wonders on roof and window seal squeaks. It's a common problem on all makes with hatchbacks and removable tops that move around as the chassis flexes.
It is especially formulated to lubricate, protect, and prolong the life of rubber weather stripping and parts. Spray it on a rag, wipe on and virtually all squeaks are gone. It usually lasts for at least a year. Use it on both the weather-stripping (front and back) and the mounting points of roof and car.
I'd use this other than lithium grease and other lubricants. Trust me on this................

In a previous post I wrote:
I thought I had the rattle (sounds like a plastic-on-plastic creaking noise) cured after installing felt between the mounting hooks and corner plate. It resumed, but now only when starting up after it has sat out in the sun. It stops shortly after driving a minute or so. It must be temperature related.
The next time I have the roof off, I'll try the powdered graphite suggestion. I can grip the corner of the roof just above the driver's head and get it to flex/squeak. That is the only place the noise comes from.
I'm confused by the contradictory suggestions of not over tightening the bolts, and fix/rebend the hook so it grips tighter. Whatever works!

What about adding the center rear hardtop mount that the new cars have?
