Q:
In lieu of tossing it on the seat or having it slide around on the back shelf, I needed a convenient place to stow a pistol (hurts too much to sit against it in a belt holster). Just enough room to manipulate the ebrake and utilizes the passenger seat frame mounting point without messing with the console:

I'm speechless, I honestly dont know what to say.

Note to self:
Do not piss mgdive off..
A:
I'm thinking of making the bracket modular, so I can slide different things on it...cup holder, ipod, cd holder, who knows.
A:
Open carry state, I assume?
What happened to the cocked & locked pic?
A:
Mine is comfortable enough to wear IWB in the Elise on all but the longest drives. The couple times I've taken it off in the Elise I set it on the floor in front of me sort of under the seat. Your way is much cooler.
A:
You could probably rig a very nice gun rack between the rollover hoop and a harness bar.
A:
Excellent idea! I was thinking about something like that, but hadn't figured it out yet. Only legal problem for me is the driver is supposed to be 'wearing the firearm in open sight' while in the car. I may do it anyhow, because I keep mine concealed anyhow while driving and more importantly, it's difficult to get to when belted in. I'd hate to have to ask a car-jacker to please wait while I unbelted and squirmed around enough to grab my piece!
A:
Transio...any chance you could photoshop a gun turret on the back of an Elise
A:
I just carry my Keltec when in the Elise. Light and tiny, fits the car.
A:
I am very interseted in this mod. Could you give us a bit more detail as to the install? I usually carry a Walther P22 with me in the car due to the sometimes due to the nutty response I get from all sorts of people.

Well, he's going to have to wait for you to get out, anyway. If he shoots you, he's never getting you out of the car.
I too would like to see some more pics for the perspectively-impaired. Presumably I could match the holster to a specific gun. Does it dig into the passenger? Any thoughts to mounting something under the dash?
Texas doesn't allow you to carry "openly." You're not supposed to threaten people. Priority 1 is escape. Well, you can carry a long gun openly, but there's no room in the Lotus.

Something like this?

Given the history of Lotus, shouldn't you switch to a PPK?

Presumably he wants to hit where he's aiming, and then he wants the target to stop where it is. Neither of these properties make me think PPK. Of course, if the alternative is a 22...
They make some real small .40's now.

Some people are touchy about things like that so I removed it. I don't want to start a gun control debate.

I'll pull the bracket off and take more detailed pics tonight. It's made out of some flat aluminum bar stock and a modified fobus holster.

Honestly, I don't want to hit anything at all. I don't even want to even remove it from the holster for any reason other than to take it inside at night. The Walther is small, controllable, inexpensive, and would act as an effective deterent to get me out of any situation. Remember, if you have to act in self-defense, you must have exhaused all other routes as best as possible.
I would carry my Kahr PM9, which is an excellent specimen; however, it is a bit large at times.

I look forward to it!
