for all of you thinking your gun is going to save you from a car jacking, robbery, or whatever, we have had 2 cj's in my county this year and both victims were armed, they both lost their cars and one was shot with his own gun, you feel safer? The truth is most of you will have your own firearm taken/turned from/on you, or will not have the chance/drive to counter the situation when it comes.
Two armed citizens not paying attention to their surroundings and being disarmed equates to most of us will be disarmed???...that's pure bs. My concealed pistol has saved my life once for sure, possibly twice in the last 15 years and all throughout the ordeals no Officer Friendly's dashed in to help me out. So yeah, I do feel safer with a firearm.
How many hundreds of crimes are thwarted in your county by armed citizens? Statistically, the victimization of armed citizens drops to a fraction between 1 and zero, according to the FBI's website.

most of you anti gunners are way to freaked out by these posts. kinda reminds me of the freaks outside the planned parenthood! they just can't stand to leave people to do their own business. Every month, the NRA magazine (sent to members) has a column of news reports of people successfully defending themselves with their guns. Oddly enough, the national news media and the network news organizations never report such things. Oddly many police officers and organizations believe citizens should not be armed for self defense - they seem to believe that the average person is somehow inferior to their superior abilities and are incompetent and should be dependent on law enforcement for their safety. Luckily the Constitution gives us the right to self defense.

Can someone find for me the national statistics for a) gun crimes as a whole, b) gun deaths/injuries & c) accidental gun deaths/injuries. I want to see how many responsible gun owners there are out there and if the current gun regulations are working.
BTW 'flyguyskt' I don't like guns so I don't have any, but what scares me are the 'gungho' gun owners who think they are immune to accidents, and immortal when carrying.

I don't know where to provide the stats for you, so I can't answer that...
And I do think your solution for yourself is quite valid. If you don't like them, no one forces you to own or carry them. But please don't infringe my right to do so, should I choose. (I own, but I don't typically carry)
I think the gung-ho gun owner is a stereotype perpetuated by the media and movies. Most gun owners I've met were very responsible and careful about the handling of firearms. It's simply better to avail yourself of one more opportunity to protect yourself, should you ever need it. It's possible that you won't even be able to use it when it comes to that, but there's also the possibility that it could save you. Not having it affords you no extra protections, though.
I was raised around firearms, and learned from an early age to treat them with respect and not play around with them. I don't think I'm alone in that.

Missouri is actually a "shall issue" CCW WI and IL are the only ones left that or non issuing states. Training course is required by law enforcement in missouri. One of my friends is one of the training instructors.

i also was raised with firearms. my first gun(BB) was given to me when i was 5. kept in a safe place and only used with supervision to shoot cans, pumkins, and the such. now i have at least 10 in my house at any given time. never been shot with one either. nut i did use one to keep a teenage girl from being beaten by her drunk boyfriend. imagine his suprise when he thought his 2x4 was gunna stop me from helping her! his eyes turned sober real quick! and sugar wouldn't melt in his mouth till the cops got there...then he got tough again. huh isn't that funny. he felt safe with the cops around!

Tosser? You must be an Englishman. You know why London averages 180 muggings a day? Because your citizens, excuse me, subjects, have been completely disarmed. You're all ripe for the plucking; I imagine that a criminal could make a very good living feasting off the sheep over there. The lifespan of a mugger in Texas would be about a week. An English mugger will thrive until retirement.
