Q:
As much as I like the seats in my '05 Elise, I will be needing to replace them soon to accommodate 5/6-point harness. If I was to describe my ideal seat, it would be:
- similar to my current seat with respect to width across the seat/hips;
- more upright seating position
- narrower/more bolstering in waist area
- as wide, if not a tad wider, in the shoulders
- relatively simple install (I don't want to have to have a machine shop or C&C machine access to install the seat correctly)
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your input!
Jen

Is price an issue? If so what are you looking to spend?

jen,
I just picked up a sparco rev seat on ebay for $200. its getting shipped to hypersports to be trimmed to fit the car. they(hypersports) also have brackets that they have designed to make the seat fit our stock mounting rails, so it is supposed to just be a simple R+R. I just couldnt see spending the $$$$ for an exige seat or a reverie seat. i have seen pictures of these installed in SCCA prepped cars , so i know the Spaco Rev can fit. I understand the Rev Plus may not fit. i should have it in my possesion in a few weeks if you want me to let you know how the project comes out. I need to get my harness bar and harness before doing the install.

Under $2000, if possible.

This is the route I'm taking. Just got my passenger seat, a 4tress bar, the harnesses and the rally brackets. Should be all done by the 4th. Looks like 2K all in with new parts. Definitely some trimming invoved.

Guys/Gals-
Please post heights of the final seats (not the top, the place where your caboose goes)... I'm curious to see how low we can get one of those Sparco seats - I'd love one but I'm worried about it being too tall and me no longer fitting with a helmet inside the car...
Thanks

brian, what model is the sparco seat, i cant quite see it in the picture. how much trimming ,and where did you need to trim, and what did you do as far as brackets go?
thanks
A:
It is a Pro 2000.
I will have a Sparco Rev for sale soon; includes fixed mount brackets. PM me if interested.
I decide to go with the Lotus Sport seats after sitting in them for a few laps around the local track.

brian 4.2... your seats look awesome. what type of trimming is required to get these seats to fit into the elise. is that a custom alcantara finish on your seat?
A:
Yes, Pro 2000, stock color, need to trim 2" off the front, Its this weekends project. Should have the answers next week.

Hi Jen,
This doesn't meet all of your criteria since mounting the seats requires a custom bracket, but I'm very pleased with mine. It can be adjusted to fit by merely bending the aluminum. Here are a couple of links to previous posts.

Pete,
What are the Lotus Sport seats? Do you have any photos of them?
A:
Jack, here is the car(lotus sport) with the seats. the seats are not shown very well in the pictures, but do a search and i am sure they will come up

Thanks -- those are the same seats in my Exige. I thought the Lotus sport seats were something new.
So Pete is going away from the Sparco to the "Exige" seats? My Exige seats are nice but not nearly as supportive as the Sparco seat found in the Exige Cup -- for track use I'd much prefer the Sparco. To each his own.
A:
Yep, I'm switching to an Exige seat. The REV seat is simply WAY to narrow for my hip bones; I'm in pain after a track day with them. I sure hope the Cup car has the REV Plus! The REV is even too short for anyone over 5'8". I'm 5'9" and I had to remove the bottom cushions so that my helmet would fit under the roof. Not sure why, but even though the seat is as low as possible, it looses some headroom compared to stock.
If I could find a race seat setup that both fit the car and me, I'd be all over it...
A:
This discussion is great - thanks, guys!
Does the Exige seat allow for 5 or 6-point harness installation?
Also, does anyone know if the amount of recline on the Exige seat is the same as the Elise?
Thanks again!!
A:
as i understand the exige is set up for 4 pt only...........i guess it could be modified.I have heard of one vendor that was working in that direction, but no names, as at this point it is still hearsay. pete, you say the rev is too narrow for you, what size waist are you? just wondering how tight a fit my set up should be........
A:
35" waist. But the problem is the hip bones; I could be thin as a rail and it wouldn't help.
The REV seat name is a bit confusing. In the Sparco specs they have a REV and a REV Plus. But when you look at their online catalog they only talk about the REV 5 which I believe is the same as REV Plus... my head spins...
I'm guessing the Cup cars come with the larger REV 5/Plus. Hopefully, that is what you got too because I think I read somewhere that your are 5'11"; you won't fit in the regular REV; the should harness holes are too low (I had mine enlarged by elongating the holes up).
The Exige seat is setup for 4 points, but the modification to add a sub-strap hole is fairly trivial. I have the same mod (including should harness holes) in my stock Elise passenger seat.

Than why not get the Reverie seat from sector111? Its made directly for the elise, is much lighter than non-carbon seats, and looks a whole lot better too.
A:
Joe, which Kirkey seat is that?
