Q:
Anyone know where I can get some soft U shaped molding like the rear difuser is wraped in? I've added velcro to the front plate so I can slap in on in case I need to park it somewhere that is ticket happy (Santa Monica for example). I want to wrap the sharp edges of the plate to avoid scratching the car. I think door edge molding is too stiff to make it around the tight corners of the plate. Any ideas are welcome.

auto stores, home depot or hobby shops will have it, model aircraft places the most likely

Go to Frys and get a long piece of heat shrink tubing, ($1.39) and comes in different colors. Slice it lengthwise and super glue the corners, then shrink wrap the edges.

I've seen places like autozone that carried door trim like that. To get door trm to have a tight bend you need to warm it up. Heat gun or possibly a lighter. Or use 1/8" drip watering hose cut lenghwise then glued on using high temp black gasket/sealant.
A:
For door edge trims, don't get the chrome or gold as they're very stiff. If you can find the rubber type, they're quite flexible and heating it up will help.

I see that stuff used for wheel protectors during shipping (pressed on the outer rim). I've had clear, black, red, blue.

Thanks again Matt, that's 2 projects you've helped me out with now. Is there nothing that McMaster doesn't have? I'll check them before asking next time.
http://www.mcmaster.com/ search for "push on edge trim"
Neoprene, A = 1/16", B = 5/16", C = 1/8", D = 3/8" and only 56 cents a foot! perfect. A little silcon adhesive and I'm good to go.
Thanks everyone for the input and good ideas!

An old trick for things like this is to buy a length of vacuum hose. Using a razor blade of Exacto, split it down the length of the tubing. Apply black silicon sealer to the inside of the hose, and slip it over the edge. Relatively cheap and easy to do. Of course the proper stuff from McMasters is even better...

Can you please show us a picture of how you are mounting the temporary front plate?
Thanks!

No problem, glad to help. There are very few things I haven't been able to find there; their prices are often on the high side but you can't beat the convenience.

No, there is not. They have absolutely everything. That's why their huge print catalog weighs a ton.

So after Matt suggested that I check McMaster.com for the U shaped molding I was looking I went to there site and placed an order. That was at about 8:30 AM yesterday morning. I came home last night at about 7:00 PM and the order that I'd placed with McMaster.com that morning was sitting on my doorstep, say about 9 hours from order placed to delivery. I've never experienced shipping quite that fast and I just paid for they're normal ground delivery ($4.00). Granted they're wherehouse is 25 miles from my house but still Totally amazing.

In SoCal, orders placed before 10:30am are supposed to go out that same day. They use drivers to ship stuff out the same day.
I get stuff in San Diego the same way.

Is this the same kind of trim thats on the edge of the hard top? I ask because mine is coming off.
