Mine would not engage correctly after I installed it either, until I loosened all of the nuts and bolts.

Yes, I did weigh it. All screws, washers, and da bone weigh 5 1/2 ounces (Avoirdupois). I have not yet weighed the old prop. I think it might weigh more.

Shinoo, I've got to give you the best new gizmo of the year award on this. After adding the PB Racing wing, the lid weight was taxing on the stock prop rod and caused it to bow. It's rock solid with the lid bone, is lightweight, and took all of 15 minutes to install. Nice product!

Another for the lid bone! I just put mine in and it's great. Easy to install, easy to use, and it doesn't look bad either. I added a touch of sewing machine oil to the pivot points and that seemed to let me get the bolts just a little tighter and still keep them free enough that it drops in to place with gravity.
Another home run product!

Those 5.5 ounces are further foreward than the prop rod.

I am having problems getting it to "lock" in place when opening...any more ideas??

check the tab on the piece that mounts to the engine mine wasn't bent all the way to a 90 degree angle, that's not quite straight up. I grabed it with some vise grips and bent it ever so gently and got it squared up better and that seemed to help. loosen up all the pivoting bolts a lot, once you get it droping and locking you can tighten them up a bit more. I also gave mine a good rub down with some really ruff steel wool mainly to polish it up a bit but I think it also helped the joints slip a little better. Mine was a little sitcky at first until I loosened the joints and added the oil.

Mine had the stickiness issue too. Aluminum can get a little gummy as a material. Lubrication, or teflon washers, or hard anodizing, can all help solve this issue.

I just loosened the bolts a smidge...

mine rubs really bad.. the middle section rubs against the botton bolt.. it's halfway rubbed gone..

I spaced out all the hinge points with an extra washer between the aluminum bits. It's eliminated the wear. Before that, it was leaving metal shavings on the cam cover from vibration. I will probably replace those washers with nylon ones once I get a chance.

Ah... I see what you mean now. Try smoothing the wear points with some very fine sandpaper, and perhaps a very subtle bend away from each other? If that doesn't work, let me know, I'll go home and look at mine and see what I can figure out.

Dave, I think you've got your arm on backwards and upsidedown... the crook should be towards the lower portion, not the top.
And Jay (Choi0706), it looks like your arm is upside down. The bow needs to be going towards the engine bay.
At least that's how it looks to me. Am I seeing things? See attached video...

I don't have the install instructions but this is the second pic I've seen that looks installed backwards to me. The video on page 1 of this thread has the hump pointing to the front of the car.
