A picture of the underside show that they do the job as advertised. If you saw what the fiberglass looked like before I installed these, you'd agree that these take the abuse much better.

I bought my bumper guards/chin guards/scuff guards from Newport European for around $100. They were already pre-painted Chrome Orange (and being a three part pearlescent paint, it's not easy to match). I called their 800 number to order them, and they arrived a few days later.
Check: post # 55 for the write up and photos I did on the installation of my guards.

What about the rest of the front underside, between these guards? That's still vulnerable.

Yep. But the winglets on the sides stick down the lowest and tend to get scraped up. The center can certainly get scratched up too though...

This provides good protection for the entire front against scrapes to the fiberglass.

Whoa! Nice CF bit. Where's it from/how much? If it's not hideously expensive, might be an OK way to protect the clam, even if it needs changing out every year or 18 months.

Sorry to hijack this thread. I had it custom made from http://www.aprperformance.com for $325. Its not listed on their website 'cause this is the first and only one. Now that they have a template, they can fab one up for the Elise.
It's simple to install and easily replacable if it cracks or breaks. I've scraped it once will driving through a dip in the road during a canyon run - no damage to the splitter. I have no scraping issues while driving around on the streets and driveways.
Here's the thread with some more pics:

I like the idea of using the stock attachment points, just not a fan of adding extra perforations to body panels.

Suggestion for installation. I used sheet metal screws in lieu of the plastic buttons provided with the nose guards. They also said to silicone them on, which I did not do. Makes for easy removal. I've had them on for well over a year with no problems. It did save me once when I hit a pothole.
