When your done don't forget to throw in a set of custom adjustable struts (Height, pitch and damp) and adjust all four corners to compansate for the weight change across the whole platform. Remember that your car was tuned by Lotus engineers whom spent who knows how many hours to balance out the power, brake force, weight, suspension to maximize the overall performance of your car. Striping items out can result in faster drag strip performance but may have undesirable results on a track that has corners.
Hence the cross weight work that we've already done. Full geo and setup will take place at the track. There's a lot of experience racing Elises in Asia, especially as my mechanic is the Lotus Elise Sports guy in Asia. He's worked on some of the fastest Elises you'll ever see.

You have no idea how hard it is to read that! I'll be lucky to get mine down to 1850 without the hardtop and that's still 100lbs heavier than you started at. AAAAaaaaarrgh
But that's exactly how S2 owners felt compared to the S1.

Tony you are going about it the right way. The message was intended for sleepless

All of the A/C parts totalled 23 lbs (not including the refrigerant).

Good job. Thanks! Weight seems decent compared to all the ac related items I removed from my S2000. I did not record the weights, however.

awesome! I like your license plate. Why's there bandages wrapped around the exaust piping on the left side?

That is a heat wrap; normally there is a heat shield in that area but it does not fit the Arqray so we just wrapped it to protect the area from high heat.

Looks good, now ditch the diffuser for Reverie's one...
Also, get rid of your rearview mirror. Swap it for a little one that sticks on with suction cups.
One more thing, you can spray the heatwrap with a silver heat resistant spray designed specifically for heatwrap applications. Makes the wrap last much longer and impervious to water too. It will look much better too.
So how many mods have you got so far, and what's left to do?

The car isn't done yet, but here are the items being finished up:
- Stripped interior (carpets, panels, foot rest, visors, rear panel, rollbar panel, etc.)
- Reverie seats
- Removed radio and speakers (replaced by VDO clock and oil temp guage and fire suppression puller)
- Removed air bags
- Removed A/C
- Harness bar and harnesses
- Halon fire suppression system
- Arqray exhaust and sport cat
- Rear panel removed
- SS brake lines
Once they arrive, I'll also install:
- Kevlar fuel tank
- toe link upgrade kit
Waiting for ITG intake and small mirror from www.sector111.com.
Considering CF mirrors and CF engine cover.
I'll probably get some SSR Comps with Hoosiers later in the year. I'd like to get the KMS wheels that you have but haven't found a way to get them here yet...
That's about it (for now ).

Cool stuff! Don't forget the battery while you're at it. I've got lighter brake discs and suspension too. The lightweight wheel and brake discs made the biggest difference of all to handling and acceleration on my car. As I went from 17/16 to 16/15 there was also a big difference felt immediately. All the other weight loss stuff is just a bonus. Losing 10kg myself made a huge difference too
I'm still not sold on the CF body panels. I think the engine cover might be the only one I'd do too as it won't get damaged. Have you swapped out the stock Manifold too? That's where I made a massive weight saving, by swapping it out to titanium. Saved 10kg. The lightweight fuel tank will save another 10kg, I have not fitted mine yet.
Replacing the little things also adds up, steering wheel, gear nob, mud flaps, wheel bolts, trunk interior, burgular alarm, tyre inflator. There's so much to strip out it's unbelievable...

I haven't seen anyone supplying a titanium manifold for the Toyota engine... Sounds good though!
Yes, I forgot to mention that I have a drycell battery too.
And, I'm working out at Gold's Gym to lose 15kg (lost 2kg so far in 3 weeks ).
The US Elise LSS wheels are actually already quite light, it is hard to improve upon them by any significant amount.
Yeah, I may do a few more little bits like the steering wheel, etc, over time. The Reverie steering wheel is very light and cool looking too ...
I agree on the CF parts; generally too expensive and brittle. That's why I have stayed with the aluminum diffuser.
I can't wait to get it out on a race track...

Tony & Sleepless,
Thanks for posting your mods and weight reduction goals. This is the real Lotus mindset and an inspiration to us all (especially those of us who still don't have our cars :-( ) Keep us informed!
Thanks,
John

John, I've found with this car the best bit about it is how much work you can do yourself. You'll love it.

Volk CE28's are made in 15x7+28 and 16x8+35. I think that is about perfect on the offsets. The 15 weighs 9.1lbs. I don't have an exact weight yet for the 16 but I'd guess about 11lbs. I believe that's lighter than the KMS 15/16's and retail for the set of CE28's is about $1700. As for tires, I don't think there is much available in the US in 195/50/15 and 225/45/16 but here there are several tires made in those sizes to include the AD07's and A048's.
I'm not 100% sure if the fit right but I will be getting my car next week. I will put some on and size them up.

I am very interested in the fitment of the CE28Ns for Elise. I have CE28Ns in 17" for my S2000. Lightweight and they look good. A 'no brainer' for me if the offsets are fine for LSS size front tire size, etc.
Thanks!

Those sound great! I look forward to your report on the fitment
