Have you noticed any difference in acceleration, braking, etc. having lost 125 lbs?

Since this is only the second time I've had it on the track, it was the first time I really started to "get on it". However, the main difference I notice is that the car is more neutral in high speed sweepers; it used to understeer and needed a little throttle lift to get it to turn; now it just turns!
I was amazed at how well it kept up with a Z06; the driver seemed to be my equal in skills. When I did a good job of keeping the revs up at corner exit, the Z06 barely pulled on me even by the end of the straight.

Looks great! I love those CF seats, but I notice that your passenger doesn't rate any padding.
Thanks,
John

Passenger seat padding is incoming

I need to clarify a bit:
I also had the car corner balanced, maxed out the camber and set front toe to zero. All of which probably had more to do with the reduced understeer than the weight reduction.

sleepless, can you describe your impression of the elise vs your sc e36m3?

Wow, where do I begin; they are such completely different beasts!
What aspects of the two cars are you most interested in comparing?
The biggest differences are weight, torque and steering feel.
You definitely feel the extra weight of the M3; it doesn't feel tossable like the Elise (that is both due to the weight and how it is distributed front/rear). However, with my current Moton setup on the M3, it is MUCH more tossable than stock.
While the M3 isn't much quicker (in acceleration) than the Elise, it feels a lot quicker due to the 310lb/ft of torque. Frankly, I have to look at the speedo on the Elise to confirm that it's actually accelerating!
The M3 steering is very precise and gives lots of feedback. The Elise tells you everything, probably too much. You can from the video how much the steering wheel is kicked around by the bumps in the road. In the M3 you feel them, but the wheel stays steady in your hand.
Oh, the M3's engine and exhaust sound is poetry! The Elise with the Arqray is a screaming banshi!

I have a much more modest weight reduction/clutter reduction plan, but want to keep mine livable (nearly a daily driver, but want to get out on a track... A lot of the small things I've removed/replaced were to get rid of needless clutter/plastic junk. I'm down about 20 lbs doing very minor things.
are the CF seats usable with a normal seatbelt?
I'm 115lb, so I have an inherent advantage without spending a dime for once it's good to be shrimpy...
There's still weight tons of weight to be gotten rid of, but to keep the car nice for road use it takes high-end part replacement... wish I had the cash for some CF parts right now..... details on the door panels when you get them please!. is anyone making CF door skins yet?
A:
I think Shinoo can get Carbon doors. I know the company that makes the parts he carries also makes doors.

Yes, the Reverie seats work just fine with stock belts.
I'll post pics of the door panels this evening; I just installed them.
CF doors would be nice! However, for much less money, there is a considerable amount of weight that can be saved with a titanium muffler (and of course the removal of the rear panel).
A:
can the perforated leather insert (teardrop shape) be moved from the old door panel to the CF one? might be a nice look if so...
weight is great, but I dislike the dunebuggy look without the rear panel/stock exhaust tips... quicksilver and CF diffuser is as crazy as I'll go back there.
anyone actually have the CF hardtop? I need to buy a hardtop, if the CF one is good I won't waste time on the lotus one...

yep, that should be doable.

Which suspension set up are you running? How does it compare wieght wise to the stock LSS dampers?

Stock LSS suspension, wheels and tires (048Rs).
After another track day of experience with the reduced weight and more track oriented track alignment, the car showed a slight tendency of oversteer (see separate thread on my spin and slids in the track forum).
We drilled a second hole into the front sway bars to make it a bit stiffer to get the car a bit more neutral. I'll be testing that setup in a couple of weeks.

I'm a little confused. How did you corner balance the car with the stock suspension? Btw, I drilled my bar as well recently and it makes a noticeable difference on the track.

We're talking about an Ellise, right? It doesn't have tons of weight to be gotten rid of. It has less than one ton to be gotten rid of, even if you're selling it. In which case I think the posting is in the wrong forum. Take the first ton out of an Elise and you something like -50lbs or so.
It's OK to laugh now, this is meant as an example of wry humor. I'm an engineer who lately has been straightening way too many non-engioneers out with comments like, "what's the units on that?"
A:
"what's the units on that?"
nak,
actually it should be "What are the units for that?"
Before you reply that engineers and grammer don't mix, I used to be an engineer many moons ago.
Just busting on you. Hard day of screaming children over here.

Man , and I thought I was thin at 133 lbs...

You can either use spacers to slightly raise a corner to tranfer weight or just put the weight where you need it like moving a battery to a different location etc. Caster changes also affect weight balance slightly.
