Q:
Resurrect!
Is this piece of foam in the non-touring base cars as well?
I know someone posted a picture of it but I can't for the life of me find it this morning...
Oh... any updates?!
The full width foam piece is not in the base cars. There is only a square of foam behind each speaker.

Thanks!
I was hoping for a quickie 3-4 lbs. to remove but oh well...
(need my weight fix!)

UPDATES:
The car has mainly gained weight over the past year and will gain more because I'm having a full cage installed shortly.
The other reasons for weight being added:
- The Arqray Ti exhaust gets louder over time and it got too loud to pass sound tests at some tracks.
- The car has a new exhaust sytem: ForcedFed street header, sport cat and 2bular stainless steel single tip muffler
- The Reverie CF seats are gone. I've put back the stock Touring passenger seat and now use the Sparco REV race seat.
I will weight it after the cage is installed.

Did you ever remove the center console and the heater controls? Also, why not remove the plastice louver pieces in the front clam and rear engine cover?

I have heard a lot on this list about Elise exhausts getting quieter as they carbon up but my experience with cars (not Elises) and motorcycles is that exhausts get louder over time as the packing material burns out or gets less effective.

I kept the center console; too many sharp bits under there.
I kept the heater controls because my car still has a heater and the fan is nice on hot days.
I don't think the louver bits weigh enough to bother removing them.
