Interior Exterior
Q:
I had the hood/front Starshield replaced. I now have a few grains of sand/dirt under it.
Is there a way to remove these, or do I need to step away from the OCD?
I tried a syringe with water/alcohol, but the needles were either too big, or too small. No luck for Goldilocks.
The next guess would involve a slice over each one with a scalpel, but I don't really want flappy bits of Starshield on my hood.

I'd take it back to the installer and have them fix the work. That's kind of a basic mess-up, in my opinion. But I'm WAY on the right side of the bell curve in terms of pickiness about car appearance issues.

I agree in theory, but in practice I'm not sure how much this will improve things. It's the kind of thing you can only see with your nose up against it, and there are inherent difficulties with waving a large sticky sheet in the air. You can't see the sand when the back side is wet. So, I think redoing it will just waste film, money and time. This is, after all, the disposable part of my car's finish.
I don't think I'd use him again, but he's the guy that several local dealerships use including the Lotus dealer, so he was the obvious choice. Maybe he's just getting old and his eyesight isn't as good as it used to be. He did a clean job with the mirror and the rear bumper. These pieces are smaller and more vertical.
I suppose I've answered my own question. I just wonder if anyone had luck with a razor blade or equivalent.
