Q:
I purchased a weathershield outdoor car cover from sector111 as it is stated as their best cover. After some testing here in lovely rainy/sunny south florida I came to a conclusion that this cover lets too much water through, leaving water spots on the car. Granted the cover shed off water very well as I can see little puddles forming on top of it and can be shaken off. The fit is great and if pulled tight around all four wheels it remained taut. It's the water spots that bother me. I even put the cover in the dryer as per instructions but results were the same. Anyone have recommendations on a different outdoor cover with relative success to keeping the car dry.

I've used these guys http://www.calcarcover.com/ and they were great on my s2000. They even passed my "cd scratch" test.

You'd be surprised at how much of the water/dust that gets under the cover is from humidity, wind, etc.
If you really want to keep the car completely clean you need one of those car bubbles

I think the Weathershield is made by Covercraft. I have their Evolution 4 cover that I'm very happy with, but it only has to protect from the huge dusty, slobbery Great Pyrenes that sleeps in the garage. Covercraft also makes one they call "NOAH" that's supposedly for extreme wet conditions. Look here:

i purchased my rain cover for the elise from lotus and it works great , it has LOTUS in big letters on the front . it also has a drawsrting on bottom to keep it nice snug on those windy days and no water spots, as i am in florida too

I've got a NOAH also for an '83 GTI that has to live outside. It sits all winter with the cover on, and when I've taken it off in the spring, the car has been almost as clean as it was at the last pre-storage detailing. After a good wash, it's back to normal. These covers have lasted me about 3 1/2
to 4 years out in the sun all of the time. I got an Evolution 4 for my Elise instead of a purely inside cover, mainly to catch all of the sap and bird crap; a lot of my parking away from home is near tall trees.

I have that same car cover and even with a few torrential downpours no water has ever been found under the cover save for that which is blown up around the wheels. Might need to get that one replaced. Even months later my Fiance and I have a bad game of getting a few water drops together and watching them race down the car until they jump the radiators. We call it 'watercross'.

I have the same problem as well.

Judging by some of the responses it is a hit or miss thing. I have to go over the entire cover to see if it is ripped or torn, but somehow I do not think that is the problem as the car has water spots from front to rear. Will look into the morning 'dew' thing as well.

The cover does breath, it all depends on how much it gets rained on. If it sits in heavy rain, there is a good chance the cover will let some water in.
