Interior Exterior
Q:
I'm looking at getting some work done from the Lotus trim shop. At least center console and door panels...
I like what LarryB did here:

and what MickOpalak did here:

I would probably do black perf with orange on top like what Mick did for the center console.
I've seen a couple others photos, but don't think I've seen any pictures with orange leather... Does anyone have any? Does it look good?
A:
Been thinking about that too myself. I don't think that OJ leather will look good or wear well. OJ trimming and embroidery? A whole different story.

MickOpalak has a newer pattern. Right after I got the new center console a CO owner wanted to do the same kind of setup. They weren't offering it in CO. Talked to him in the last month and it's now available. Here is what it looks like in the new pattern. Personally may add the aluminum plate to mine.

Robert's orange looks good... I like the pattern that Mick has better. Not a big fan of the orange thread, but I suppose it goes with his new seats. Anyone have photos of these in their car? How closely does the orange match the car color?
LarryB: Why do you want to add the aluminum plate? Just looks or because of wear or something?
A:
The external gate will rub the leather boot. You have to have the gear centered a bit differently and also reposition the boot.
A:
I would strongly recommend black leather with a black shift boot and brake boot. Have the use orange stitching on the leather.
This is what I did with black leather/red stitching to match the interior and it looks great.

Why?

The plastic console the car comes with looks like it belongs on a Geo Metro.

stuartp- Plan on adding the plate for looks, think it gives it a more finished appearance and ties into the aluminum bits else where in the car.
On going with the darker color leather, well the lighter one may fade a bit quicker. Personally am not worried about it. In the MR2 about 5 years ago went with bright red leather inserts for the seats and red shift boot, it's held up fine. Having the cars garage and using the shower cap on the Elise if it sits out for long is a big help.
