errr... isn't ANY tint of the windshield (other than the top couple of inches) illegal in a sorta of "pull me over right now and give me that ticket" way?
Yes it is, but if you have the other windows in the car tinted, it is really hard to notice a light tint on the front window. I have several friends here in Vegas that have had their front windshield tinted for years and never got a ticket for tint.
They usually tint the sides & back limo, and then use a very light tint on the entire front windshield with a Dark Tinted Glare strip across the top, it is very hard to tell.

getting mine tinted soon mainly for the heat. so much metal parts inside... swift knob gets so hot I can't even change gears.

Would you guys say that 15% Lumar is standard? I live in Michigan but the weather here has been hot, it was 95F today with 90% humidity
I also like the look of the tint and think it would look sweet on my SY! I don't want to get too dark so would 15% be the right choice?

15% is pretty dark. The photos of my SY tint are 20% which is a lighter tint than the 15%. Limo tint is between 2-5%. If you want something not quite as dark I'd go with 35%. "Standard" side window tint is usually around 35%.
Also, I'd try to find the high end color stable 3M tint. I have found that Lumar discolors over time and takes on a purplish coloration.

damn, i don't know how you guys live around there. I was in Virginia the first two weeks in July. It was absolutely horrible. I have never been to a place where the weather was that unpleasant and unbearable.

Trust me, when I look at the beautiful photos of California I ask myself the same question. I have a great job and like what I do. I'm compensated well and my family and well as my wifes family all live in this "horrible" climate. By the way, it was 98 degrees today with 95% humidity.

I'm strongly considering going with this same look.. Also maybe the Storm Titanium or if I can get over the finger print syndrome, maybe Starlight Black... Lots of cool choices.
