Q:
This is not on my Elise, but I figure the question still applies. It's actually on my daily driver (a normal metal, metallic painted/clear-coated type car). I have one of those radio station stickers on a surface of the car (like a bumper sticker but about 1/2 the size and oval). I'm sure it won't peel off nicely -- I didn't try too hard but I wanted to see if it was plastic/vinyl or some such, but no avail...
Ideas on how to remove it and whatever is left in order not to damage the paint ?
Thanks...
A:
Blow dryer to loosen the adhesive, peel slowly, then Goo Gone to remove excess adhesive. I find that a few iterations of the above works best. (No guarantees expressed or implied, actual mileage may vary.)

Thanks... I was worried that the goo gone would harm the clearcoat -- but I suppose not ? Clearly I will use it, and then clean the surface instantly so it doesn't "Stay on there"...
But the hairdryer, that worries me more... I obviously would try a low heat setting first... not a heat gun right ? I have one of those too but I'm pretty sure that would bubble the paint almost instantly...
Any other easy ways ?
Cheers

I wouldn't use goo gone on the clearcoat - I've seen it do some damage when others have used it. I've used naptha (light fluid, like you'd use in a zippo) to remove adhesive as well as WD-40 and haven't had either damage clearcoat yet. Be prepared to rewax the area though!

Goo gone is pretty mild. You might dilute it if you're worried. At the end of the day you're trying to take adhesive off, so something too mild won't likely cut it.
Yes, blow dryer, not a heat gun. Think of simulating a really, really hot day, nothing more than that.

A clay bar will remove glue quickly and easily.

Great, thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try gently heating the area first, then removing it via clay first in a small spot (since I Have a bar here). If no dice, I'll move on to WD40, then denatured alcohol or lighter fluid or some such -- and if no avail, goo gone here I come!!
Thanks..

BTW, lighter fluid works really well on goo...

Car wax works great! Never would've guessed it til someone told me after I had melted sticky residue from my racers tape.
