Q:
I thought it might be nice to have a leather boot on the parking brake handle that matches the shift boot. I contacted a place called Alan Gun Leather Accessories ( www.aglausa.com ) which does superior quality leather accessories and amazing steering wheel restoration work. I mentioned that the Elise community loves to personalize their rides, and suggested that he check out elisetalk. Well, he'll do it, and probably anything else people can think of. Maybe even a Krypton shift/brake/steering wheel combo.
The only problem is that he needs a donor car. I'd be happy to, but Plantation, FL is a little bit far from Hartford. If someone can drop by for an hour, he'll make templates and get to work. A discount for the donor was mentioned. I've seen their work and it is really nice, and very modest in price. I'm biased; I had one of the steering wheel restorations for a 911, and I couldn't believe it.
Any takers?

I'm close, and I'd like the boot. Details?

Chris,
Just give Alan a call for directions, etc. The number he gave me is 800-780-4500. He didn't say if it worked locally. The address is on the website. Let him know that you responded the post concerning my email to him-I told him I'd try and find an interested local Elise owner.
Thanks! (I really want a boot too.)

I been thinking of wrappin the center console with leather and slighty padded in between. more comfortable for the right leg/knee. any chance that he'll be doing that too?

I have an appointment set up to see Alan tomorrow afternoon for him to take measurements. I'll post more when I have more.

OK, I met with Alan today and he took measurements of the emergency brake. He is going to make a couple prototypes and I will come back for a test fitting. He showed me a sample of the leather that he intends to use and it looks to me like it matches the factory leather real well. He also had a couple boots on hand that he makes for other cars and the quality looked top notch. I am optimistic.

I got an email back from Alan and placed my order.

I am going to pick up my car next month in September. I ordered a new console through my dealer's parts dept. It goes to the after trim department in England. It is covered in black leather with red stitching and red leather shift and parking brake boot for both. And get this they ship over a new console for $280.00. My dealer is Smith Lotus in California. I will post photos when I get the car.

I'd be very carefully working with Alan Gun. In fact I strongly recommend against it unless you can deal with him in person. And see what you get before you pay.
I ordered a replacement steering wheel for my 911.
When I got it the quality of the leather and workmanship was terrible. So I called him and he promised me to refund the money if I returned the wheel (at my cost). I sent it back to him via FEDEX (confirmed). I called and email several times but I gave up hope of ever seeing my $ 300.00 .
Alan I hope you read this ....

update to this thread. The ebrake boots from AGLAusa do not match the factory shifter boot leather no matter how many time they say they do. I know it's been brought up before in other thread but wanted to put it in this one in case someone does a search.

Sorry to hear that-perhaps the material source has changed. I got one of the earliest ones, and it was identical but stiffer. After treating it with Griot's Leather Reconditioner, it really couldn't be much closer.

I have a relatively new one with the perfed leather and although it's not a perfect match, it isn't bad. There are very mixed opinions on Alan Gun Leather products.

Can someone post a pic of the leather e-break boot from Alan?
