RaceView Mirrors from Sector 111

Interior Exterior

Q:
Yum.
I ordered these on Tuesday, they were at my door today and on my car by 7pm.
My installation:
1) I was prewarned that I would have to open the door panel to put these mirrors on (because the screws like to fall down inside the door). I tried to be like MacGuyver - I used a bit of my chewing gum on the end of the Allen wrench. It worked great when I did the drivers side door, but the passenger side door was a pain and I dropped screws in the door despite the gum trick. Oh well. It wasn't a big deal, but then again I have really small arms so getting inside the door compartment was okay. If you are a big person, make sure you have small children or adults around whose arms will fit!
2) The stock passenger side mirror had issues coming off. One of the metal threaded bits that is glued into the mirror (its what the screws screw into) came loose and broke off from the mirror. Boooo.
3) for some reason I couldn't get one of the screws that holds the bracket on the passenger side to fit into the bracket. I tried... and tried... and tried. I think the screw wasn't long enough because of how the fiberglass was inside the door. Eventually I gave up and just used two screws. I may try to add a longer screw in the next couple of days.
What was up with the passenger side? The driver's side was cake, I guess I just had bad luck. The convex thing was a little weird the first time I looked in the mirrors, but after that it was no problem. I can see more. It's nice. The big arms of the stock mirrors are gone too, yay. I'm a happy camper. oh.. and they're totally hot. heh.
Anyway, without further ado... here are some pics.

nice... i want a pair... but dang... $400...
A:
Nice job...Congrats.
They are hot!!!

A:
Ummmmmm... nope. I envision a teenager tearing it off the side of your car to stick in their locker! (Hope not)

Anyone know how the view of these mirrors compares to the multivex?
A:
ooo I wanted these mirrors also!
The gum trick is interesting... I usually use a magnet stuck to the end of the allen wrench (will magnetize the entire length).
Can you get some more pictures from other angles? Mainly directly from the front, and directly from the rear... thanks
A:
If the black on the mirror mount matched the black on the windshield better I would consider these.
A:
Looks great, Jeanie!
A:
Sweeet! looks familiar

umm well here is a pic of the car from the back, and I tried to get the front/back views.. I'm not such a good photographer so most of my pics didn't turn out. And now, I realize that I have my mirror adjusted so it's a little crooked too. nice. hahaha..
A:
I like, it looks like it should have come like that from the factory. Very light, functional, no BS.

Yah.. I guess my only complaint would be that the bracket fitment on the door is kinda eh.. it's close. I dunno how much better it could be, though.
I'm definitely happy with the mirrors, I like the look much better than the Craftsquare ones - I think this solves the how-do-we-stick-this-on-the-car issue a little better but not perfectly.
hehe and who can complain about -2lbs.
A:
Hey Jeanie,
Are you getting the mod bug?
I put a pair on this week as well (pics to come). Funny, I used the gum trick too. I had the same problem with the third screw. I ended up using the smallest of the three original screws. When mounting, loosely thread the screws, but do not tighten until all screws are threaded. This will give you some room fiddle with. I think it's important to note that the mounting brackets don't follow quite the same curve as the door, causing the door to bend slightly when mounted (again pics to come).
A:
Are those the 5" mirrors or the 4"?
I've liked them for a long time. Couldn't wait for APR to fab the mount so I did it over a year ago.

Hmm yah I did do that loosely thread first thing (a very good idea) but to no avail. It seemed like the screw barely stuck out through the door. I should try at some point to use that third stock screw instead.
Oh, and my appetitite for mods is... large. I'm only limited by my pocketbook, which is not so large. hehe I should get a part time job for mod-money.
A:
I love the look of the stock mirrors. Is there a significant weight savings with these?

eh.. I guess it depends on if you consider 2lbs significant or not. I don't - it's 0.1% of the car weight? hehe..
I like the look and the greater visibility that I get with these mirrors.

I believe these mirrors of just constant radius convex, similar to the stock passenger side mirror. The Multivex are constant radius convex on the inside half and increasing curvature going outboard.
I have looked in both and like the Multivex for highway lane changes.

These are lightly tinted too. It makes quite a difference at night

I bought one of these mirrors from Shinoo a couple of days ago. I was really excited to buy and install the mirrors since I saw it at Sector 111's grand opening. As soon as I got home, I started taking off the OEM driver side mirrors. I was able to get first 2 screws on top without any problems. I thought, wow this is going to be easy. When I got to the bottom screw. I encountered a problem. I could not see the last screw. I tried more illumination with no avail. All I can see is a black plate cover. I called Lillie and ask for assistance. She said, my car is one of those that has a black plate covers. With that, she said I will not be able to remove my OEM mirrors. Therefore, no Craftsquare or Raceview mirrors for me. Before you order yours, check if you have this plate. It will save you the heartache of not being able to install these beauties.
