and now the rear clam is going to be repainted. I did a search on this site for starshield to discover how long the paint needs to cure prior to application. The dealer is telling me that they can do it after about 7 days because the paint they use will cure that quickly. I found posts here that said 30 days, a post that said two weeks, and posts that talked about paint peeling off when starshield was removed - perhaps because the paint was not propeerly cured before the application.
So - does anyone actually know how long the paint needs to cure before the starshield is reapplied to avoid issues down the road?

I waited a couple of months. Small price to pay to let the paint cure. However, that was over fall/winter. Hotter temps will cure paint faster.

call starshield and ask, if i remember from other threads lotus gives you a paint warranty with the starshield, so it would be in their interests to do it right.,

John Eagle Collision in Dallas claims four days. They have done "ten" Elises in this manner - YMMV

Hmm I guess we won't know if they are right about that until one of those ten has some reason to need to remove it....

I waited 30 days. Due to an unfortunate incident, the clear bra piece that I had replaced will have to be replaced again. Hence, I will soon find out if 30 days was enough.

Local Starshield guy says 10 days. Claims that if it's going to peel, it's going to peel. My own schedule means it will be more like 4-5 weeks.

I gave two or three weeks - can't remember. No problems with mine after over two months.

Gary,
After talking to Starshield and my body shop, I waited 30 days. Sucked as I could'nt drive it until the Starshield was put on. Have'nt had any problems with the starshield since put on though.
Probably depends on paint type, ambient temp, humidity etc... Hope that clears it all up. ( Like Mud)

Well looks very unscientific... like the bodyshops want to get the cars out of the way ASAP and the owners (me being one of them) are skittish about putting clear bra on too soon and are picking there own safety margins...
I was tellig myself I could live without the Lotus, consoling myself with driving an aging Del Sol with the top off but on Friday the engine died and I am in a (groan) rental Ford Focus.
Oh well - I shall get the Del Sol back soon and will go try and pick a number of days to wait on the Lotus paint cure (sticks finger in the air to test humidity and temperature, consults crystal ball and stirs pot containing bits of pilot's thumb, take away the number you first thought of and....)
