Q:
Sorry if I'm over-thinking this,
but I've just received these gaurds with no instruction on installation.
I know you just stick them on, but I'm more concerned about placement.
They don't seem to be cut to fit the elise at all.
Seems a little strange for 89$
In any case....is there anyone out there who has them that can help me out?

I used the pics on the website as a guide and positioned the guards on the lowest parts of the clam. The one thing I did differently than the website pics was to mount the outermost pieces perpendicular to the front of the clam curvature, rather than parallel to the line of travel. Seemed to work out well. Sorry I don't have any pics - my Elise is black and so are the guards so they don't show up well.

Mine fit with no cutting. I painted the leading edge graphite gray and they look good and actually do what they are supposed to do. Nice, a simple tool for a simple job.

very curious to see how yours fit with no cutting.
Do you have any pics?
Or a detailed description of where you "stuck" them?

I received mine as well and plan to install them (ie. stick them on) tomorrow. I plan to install the two large pieces "backwards" compared to the pictures on the RR site. In other words, the curved side will be pointing to the rear of the car, not the front This will give better coverage and should improve the appearance as well. As stated above, they don't appear to be cut specifically for the Elise.

I agree about mounting them backwards. I thought about it and figured there was a reason for the design. Now with much wear on them it would be better for looks and protection to have more material at the leading edge.

Did the installation this morning. As I intended, I installed the large pieces "backwards" and highly recommend this. It looks better and gives more coverage.

Just follow the pictures from their website. You can install them any direction you want. They actually work great.

I'm picking my new elise up in a couple of weeks. I'm debating whether to get the chin guards that lotus offers or the RR guards. Did you guys look at the lotus guards and if you did why did you choose the RR ones. Ie. I'm trying to figure out which way to go.
A:
Just make sure you mount them on the low points and you'll be fine. I preferred mounting them parallel to the frame due to the grooves. I painted mine with a cherry red plastic enamel. Looks just like the ardent body paint. I'll post pics if you want.
Note that I haven't "used" them yet. With this car, you definitely become more in tune with road conditions.
AFAIK, the Lotus guards must be fixed to the clam with screws, so I liked RR due to the less invasive install procedure.

You bought the grey ones then?

Anybody attach these to an Exige yet? I'd like to see pics.
