Mike, nice write & & leg work. Keep us informed if we can get a group buy. I have a 12 hour trip ahead this summer for vacation and these would be huge for the trip!!!

I agree good information. I asked the local Lotus dealer about the ProBax Exige seats, I was quoted over $1500 each seat. Being able to replace the foam buns in the original Elise seats would be great.

from C3 ..."I was quoted over $1500 each seat. Being able to replace the foam buns in the original Elise seats would be great."
There must be a way where all we need is the middle padding inserts??? Not the whole seat.

Hmmm. If I had a spare seat insert I'd go buy one of those $90 large Temperpedic pillows - cut it into slices and give the whole kit-n-kaboodle to an upholstery shop to make a custom leather/suede replacement. That's probably the absolute easiest/cheapest way to do this... until Lotus gets off it's butt
David, I did install some temperature sensitive foam in my Elise seats. I was foam used in aircraft seats. BTW it made a day and night difference in the bone jarring ride during the Winter months. There are a lot of different densities of foam, and I would think that the temperpedic matress foam would be a little soft for the application.
It sure would be nice to be able to buy some proper density - pre-cut foam inserts, and simply re-install the existing original seat covering.

I made the trip to St. Louis and back yesterday. The lowered lumbar support is much better for me, but the seat is not yet ideal. I am thinking I might like to be able to tip it back a little, just to change positions.
I also solved the the mystery of the '06 seats without the ProBax logo. Every '06 I saw had the logo. Needless to say, I had give Steve Brown and Mike some grief about that! The ProBax seats do seem more comfortable than the '05s, but not as much more as I had hoped. Most of the additional padding seems to be in the seat area, with more thigh support. The lumbar area seemed to follow the same contour as the '05 seat with the bladder flat, but it was more comfortable there than the '05. I'm not sure why. Note that my experience was sitting in it for a few minutes. I am aware of the comments that the seat grows on you with time.
The shifter replacement went fine. Mine showed no signs of stress cracking. They gave me the old one with the ball, but without the setscrew. They said the recall 'kit' did not include a new setscrew.

I've had the aircraft foam in my car for a while now. Although the ride is better with the foam it's still not ideal in my opinion. When the weather is even slightly on the cold side the foam turns hard. Cold mornings are the worst.

The ProBax seat cushion is designed to keep your hips at a more proper angle, instead of relying on a lumbar support. Dunno how this works, but the seats are magical. Just don't sit on your wallet...

On cracking...it might take chemical crack testing to find a trouble spot before failure. Such cracks are not generally visible to the eye.

I tried out the 06 elise and 06 Exige seats with ProBax. These thinks rock! I so want to replace the inserts. I have leg problems to begin with and both of these seemed excellent and no difference between Exige and Elise seats w.r.t. comfort. Any progress on the inserts?
