Here are some more... showing attachment points inside boot. Those pics are great! You can really get a better idea of how it blends with the car. Thanks alot! Very helpful plus a sweet looking ride
Did you remove the plastic vents (can't remember the correct term) from the air intake ports? If so what did you replace them with?

I'm debating the same thing! I like the carbon fiber look but I'm afraid that the mounting has a chance of damaging the rear lid. Plus, has anyone said what the total cost of the PB wing is including shipping? On a side note, if I were going to put on a front spoiler, does it make any difference which front spoiler I use with which rear wing?
if i were u i would ge tthe gut wing spoiler but then i would have a front spoiler as well !!!!! on the way from body shop the car at 75 miles was lifting alittle because of the un balence downforce..... also u can use the gut spoiler in the front but i have the carbon fiber .... works but not as much as the gut spoiler.. also it improves downforce loooks good well see ya

I do know that there seems to be some quality control problems with the PB wing. Jay Hass has had 5 sent to him for FastMX5's car and all of them have had quality issues.
Has anyone looked into what is really going on in the back of the Elise as it pertains to the air flow? Is clean air really hitting the wing? I remember reading somewhere that if you don't have the hard top on, the wing won't get clean air.

if you have the roof off the air will not flow well thats true.... the spoiler will be no use if thier is no constanct air flow to the spoiler to help keep the car down with downforce.....

Mr. Fukatsu who designed and produces GUT spoilers spent 6 months designing this combo and came out with this final design ( many trials, errors, 3 prtotypes ). He did not want to sell some wing that was designed for some other car or came out of a Ricer shop parts bin. I enjoyed talking with him regarding this project. I can feel a lot of care went into designing this product. And he said that all products he designs and produces must function well before going into production.
After all, he drives his GUT equipped Elise everyday.

Additionally he employed a former F1 driver to test it on Fuji speedway to confirm performance. My recent trackday at Willow Springs confirmed that this kit delivers downforce.
Ideally it would be great to have wind tunnel testing but no one making parts for the Elise has that BIG of a budget! Seat of pants confirmation by several Elise owners who track their cars has left us feeling comfortable with our contention that this kit rocks!

For measuring real world downforce you can do a much better job than any wind tunnel by using one of the STACK engineering data loggers with linear pots connected to the suspension. Such a setup is capable of giving you the precise downforce on all four wheels at any speed and would cost about 5K. I'm installing one in my Noble.

On the Gut wing, I think it looks great, but can water gather on top of the clam - under the wing and possibly mess up the pain under there???

If you install them right then there won't be any problem. It was engineered with that thought in mind since it rains a lot in Japan.

Can you tell me what you mean by "install them right" - - is there a way for the water to get out that I am not seeing in the pictures?

If you are so curious about it why don't you contact the manufacture yourself. Water may sit on the yop as the factory clam does. But if you are asking about water entering in between the structure then it is up to the installer. A lot of aftermarket parts suffer from some type of installation problems either because of a quality issue of the parts themself(inconsistency of production)or installation problem since each of the pieces are prepped and installed by the owner's choice of installer. Therefore, most of the installers may only get to do this once. Most of the units sold in Japan are installed by the same people since the manufacture offers this service and since the Country of Japan is about the same size of California a buyer can get to them much easier than here.

Wes I really wasn't asking to get flamed, just a simple question since your previous response of "installing . . . right" implied that there was a particular way to install the GUT wing without water accumulating under it and staying there. As for contacting the manufacturer, I think we all know it might be somewhat difficult to contact the manufacturer as evidently that person is in Japan.
Your response also states, "engineered with that in mind" - - maybe that would answer the question.
Your response quite well points out that many, if not most, installers of these after market parts, especially the GUT wing, have never seen this thing before (or worked on an Elise for that matter). Thus, a question (from a good Sector 111 customer) as to the proper installation to avoid water accumulation would not seem like too much to ask.

When I have a question regarding an item that I am interested in, I call the manufacture or dealer who represents it. So far I've called Italy, England, Japan and Taiwan. I always found someone that I can communicate with. Therefore, I think you simply misunderstood my point. All I was trying to do was to respond to your question since I have spoken to them and it is always the best to talk with someone from the source.
If you are a customer of Sector111, why didn't you ask them in the first place? I don't work for them. I am a customer of them just like you!

I had a ride with Alan thru the Ortega twisties last weekend. His aero mods blend seamlessly into the lines of the car.The rear wing is very well mounted and makes the car a joy to look at. Some one did their homework. Nice work !
