I wanted to replace the lock with something similar to what Randy did here
But I also wanted to keep the appearance of a lock. I bought some rare earth magnets online. They are about 3/4" x 1/8" disks. I taped two disks at the edge of the trunk lid and made an aluminum bracket for another disk and taped it to the trunk. I also got a 3/4" metal cap from HomeDepot for the lock hole. The lid support is made from a thin piece of aluminum.

Great idea. I might have to do that. Get up to 140 to make sure the wind does not pull the trunk open and let us know.
