Q:
I just took out my elise for its first real drive since i got it. about 200 miles round trip to a nice little town called Bisbee AZ. the car is awesome! i tried to hit the cams in 5th, then as it got faster, it didnt seem prudent on the road I was on. I took a rock off my windshield, but thanks to the low angle it bounced and left no marks...........
Anyway, I am 5'11" and have my seat in a nice position for me to drive, and i noticed that my right knee, next to the console just sort of rests on the console. I have a leather cover for the console, and it dawned on me,............"what if the console cover had some padding stiched into it so my bony knee doesnt get sore(so fast)" . Anyone else have this issue, or thoughts on the idea. I know i could probobly slide the seat farther back, but this was most comforatble to hold the wheel in this seat position.

My knee rests on the center console too. After you get used to the car, you'll find your foot position changes a little on the accelerator and the position of your knee changes too. Rotate your ankle (toes up, heel right), make your foot a little more vertical and you'll find it is more comfortable, and faster to the brake. That's my experience anyway.

Are you at a 1,000 miles yet Josh?
I like the idea. I'm going to have a leather shop do some custom stuff to my car, I wonder if this could be done also...
Hmmmm, you're giving me ideas...

I had my door sills leather coated with some padding to help my elbow out. With the original plastic sill, I found that my elbow was constantly hitting it and it would get sore after long drives. No problems since it was coated. I assume the same would work for your knees.

1,000 miles will be completed during the drive up to the dealership on Wed. for the 1k service. It does seem like an idea that those who have the resources, and market these products, might improve on. Or someone might design one and make/sell them. I think I would buy one, and sell my current leather console cover if something padded like this was available. I will take only %5 royalty fees.

My guess is that the Lotus Trim Shop could do a nice job on a padded section for the front / left of the console. They do whatever custom work you can imagine, so give them a shot. (P.S., I had the same idea, but went braindead at the time of placing my order for a console from the trim shop and forgot to specify the padded area.
