2nd to that! Sooo, what would you charge to paint the Lotus and logo on mine?
A:
Do you need to use special paint since it gets pretty hot in there? I guess you can't use Testors model paint.
A:
How about this?

...
Ooh, ooh!
How did you do that?
Can you give us a writeup please?
Looks fantastic!
A:
Does the CO show a bit through the engine vents? Looks cool.
A:
Its not mine...its the engine bay of the new exige
genuine lotus stock set-up
A:
Really? wow. Nice touch.
A:
eyelise, your match looks nice too but the CO pic really shows off the deep gloss. That's what really impressed me.
I have SY too. What paint did you use and how is it holding up to engine heat?
A:
I used Tower paints Saffron Yellow enamel and Dupont acrylic clear coat. Very glossy in person. The car is in storage so I don't know how it will hold up.

in your pic it looks like it might have a little less orange in it than the factory SY. Is that right?
A:
Hey that CO engine cover is mine.
A:
Nope, I think it is the flash and lighting. It matches almost identical.

Fantastic writeup!
It was saved in my "Elise DIY" folder. Thanks a bunch for your efforts.
How is it holding up for you?
I'm going to be doing the AC surround, shifter plastic and engine cover.

Thanks. No issues with the engine cover or console at all. The paint does well under the boot and is unaffected by the heat. Both are still shiney. I just wipe engine covers up with a MF towel after I wash the car and occasionally wax the console. I'll probably pull the engine covers off sometime in the future to clean and wax that too.

Looks Great Jeff! Nice job.
I did this last winter, not as nice as yours.
I used the Lotus Orange that Lotus uses on the Esprit valve covers and testers green, yellow & silver on the emblem.

OK I'm not done yet - gotta do the letters and the logo...

CAN I ASK, HOW DID U DO THE BRAKE CALIPERS?? DID YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THEM AND SOAK THEM IN PARTS CLEANER , OR WHAT DID U HAVE TO DO TO GET ALL THE BRAKE DUST OFF. I'D LIKE TO DO MINE BUT DONT WANT TO SPEND A MILLION HOURS DIS ASSEMBLING AND RE ASSEMBLING..THANKS
A:
To be honest - I took them to my Dealer and gave them my credit card - and like magic they were done.
It actually wasn't too bad - engine covers, brakes, interior bits all for under a grand. They did remove them and then have to re- bleed the brakes - after they painted them they lightly sanded the raised lettering and lights so they are silver.
