Front Plate Elise Logo

Interior Exterior

Q:
I'm looking for an "ELISE" logo front plate (new font). This photo is of the old style font. Anyone know where you can get ahold of one?
Thanks, John
A:
That looks like the new font to me. Maybe you should post a picture of what you refer to as the new font?
The one in the picture is a Lotus accessory that comes with the sill cover kit.

Looks like the current logo to me.
A:
John, that is the current S2 logo. It just so happens to match the one on the back of your car!
You may be mixing it up with the older S1 logo. It seems like there are more S1 accessories out there on the various Elise parts euro websites.

I can send you the decal in any size/color if you just want to put one on the paint. You won't have to bolt or glue a metal backing plate on that way.

I ordered new side-sill panels, and the parts guy asked me if I wanted to add in a sill-badge kit that also includes a front plate area badge, so there is something that comes from Lotus made to cover this part. I added it to my order (I think it was about $110 or so), which is on its way to me, but I won't know what it looks like until it arrives.
Bye the way, this was from an Atlanta-area dealer who happily ships parts. He also has driving light kits in stock.

I might be interested in that...

Yea, you're right. I've been reading "Lotus Elise - The Official Story" (great read by the way), and I guess I've got accoustomed to the S1 cursive style font and got it mixed up as the current font.

That's a great idea. But I was planning to put industrial strength velcro on the front plate holder, so I can change between my license plate (to be legal when I in the mood ...., trips, etc) and the ELISE logo plate for shows, most daily driving.
I was hoping to get just the ELISE plate without buying a kit with other accessories I don't want.
Thanks, John

Not only did he find them, he has them in stock and was pushing to sell them. He must have asked me three times "Are you sure you don't want to add a driving light kit to your order?" He has a site at http://www.lotusparts.net/

Tim,
I like your idea of putting individual chrome letters on the plate holder.
Does Virginia have no front plate requirment, or are you just willing to take a ticket risk? I hate the front plate requirment and Illinois enforces it well in my personal experience with my previous sports cars.
Back to topic...Can you get the ELISE plate by itself, without the entire kit? Or is anyone with the kit, that doesn't want the plate, willing to sell the plate?
Thanks, John

I should be receiving mine this week, and I'm not sure if I want the front badge from the kit. I also have the chrome letters that I may put in that place instead. I'll let you know if I want to get rid of the front badge from my badge kit.

Does Virginia have no front plate requirement, or are you just willing to take a ticket risk? Virginia requires the front plate. So far they haven't bothered me. I plan on pointing out the federal exemption sticker on the door jamb and explaining that it has the European front end and there is no place to mount a front plate. I would like factory looking "ELISE" letters (stickers) on the front so that it might even look more like it supposed to not have a front plate.

Bottom line is I'll risk it...

I just got my sill badge kit which includes the front plate badge. I'm going to keep the front plate badge, but if you want one, they are $117 plus a few bucks shipping from Northport in Atlanta (http://lotusofatlanta.com or 888-346-3161). The part number is LOTAC05336. Like I said previously, they also have driving light kits in stock.
Here's what you get. The top two are for the sill panels, and the smaller one is for the front plate area:

I'm still shocked that no one will make and sell just the front piece. weird...
A:
I don't think I really like that front plate, but the sills would be pretty sharp. I really like the individual Lotus letter emblems. I'm going to just make the same decal as on the rear, but bigger and put it in on the front. Tryin to decide between semi-gloss black, or go for a phantom effect and make it from reflective orange to go over the chrome orange so it lights up at night. Got word that my car has made it into the country so pretty soon I'll be able to start playing!
